Title: Les vie de famille sans artifices
Review: Voilà un film qui parle de la vraie vie de famille sans artifices sans de trucs niais qui se finit toujours bien. Ce film est génial, les acteurs sont incroyable, Meryl Streep et Julia Roberts nous donne vraiment l’impression que c’est leur famille que l’on voit, Un bon film d’auteur à l’américaine, j’adore ce genre et je le conseille vraiment.

Title: Osage County HD
Review: Trés beau transfert blu-ray qui retranscrit à merveille la photographie tout en ombre et lumières de cette adaptation de la pièce de Tracy Letts.Féroce et jubilatoire tableau de famille sur lequel Meryl Streep règne en maître. Dysfonctionnelle, hystérique, rongée par des secrets dévastateurs cette galerie de personnage appuie là où ça fait mal. On ne choisit pas sa famille et les liens qui s’y tissent peuvent aussi bien aider à grandir qu’à dégringoler. Le personnage « ogre » de la mère ne laisse aucun échappatoir. Ses refléxions sont d’autant plus cruelles qu’elles énoncent la vérité brute.Les répliques savoureuses sont légion et le casting déborde de talent. A la fois grotesque et magnifique, Meryl Streep enflamme la pellicule. Julia Roberts et Margo Martindale (The Millers) révèlent toute l’étendue de leur talent. Scott Cooper apporte un peu d’oxygène et d’humanité dans cet enfer intîme. Les autres rôles n’ont plus qu’à se hisser au niveau de ces stradivarius de l’interprétation.Il y a quatre ans, le réalisateur John Wells signait le très beau Company Men et révélait déja une direction d’acteur impériale.Avec Osage County il vient clairement de passer à la vitesse supérieure.Grand film.Blog Les Chroniques ciné de Francisco

Title: Magnifique interprétation de M. Streep
Review: Les 20 premières minutes du film démarrent doucement pour préparer le décor et la mise en place des protagonistes du film.On y admire l’excellente performance de Meryl Streep. Car en plus, d’être une actrice de talent, c’est une actrice qui a la faculté d’interpréter un personnage avec beaucoup de profondeur et de justesse. Face à elle, Julia Robert lui tient tête, dans le rôle d’une de ses filles.Très belles interprétations des acteurs et magnifique mise en scène du réalisateur, qui filme ce film avec beaucoup de finesse.

Title: Un été dans le mal
Review: Ce qui fait mal dans cet été à Osage County , c’est que la « vieille mère » en souffrance joue à la « reine-mère » et prend des « vies » pour soutenir la sienne !!! D’amour , elle n’a pas eu et donc n’en donnera pas ! puisque ses désirs à Elle ont été bafoués , elles va faire en sorte que sa maladie lui octroie le droit d’affliger les « siens » ! film réaliste , au combien!!!On aimerait , évidemment , des mères « toutes » bonnes ……..Mais , la vie est un mystère !!!C.B

Review: De ces savoureuses répliques autour d’une perverse narcissique !À partir de là, le film n’est pas suffisamment construit pour en faire une référence : au lieu de « jouer » leurs rôles, les acteurs « surjouent » dans un décor austère, avec des « blancs » entre les dialogues, comme si seules les répliques comptaient !Bref, un film prometteur, bâclé…

Review: Wenn Barbara(Julia Roberts) das sagt, ahnt ihr Ehemann Bill(Ewan McGregor) nicht einmal ansatzweise, wie untertrieben der Begriff „Klapsmühle“ tatsächlich ist. Barbara ist zusammen mit ihren Schwestern Ivy(Julianne Nicholson) und Karen(Juliette Lewis) wieder im „Zuhause“ erschienen, weil Vater Beverly Weston(Sam Shepard) sich das Leben genommen hat. Beverly war ein Dichter und Trinker. Doch das allein war nicht der Grund für seinen Freitod. Seine Ehefrau Violet(Meryl Streep) eine sarkastische, tablettenabhängige Person wird einen Großteil zu dieser Entscheidung beigetragen haben.Jetzt hockt die Familie um den Esstisch, hört sich Violets bitterböse Spitzen an und packt nach und nach ein Geheimnis nach dem anderen aus. Das führt zu Streit, Hass, Verständnislosigkeit und Missgunst. Auch Tante Mattie Fae(Margot Martindale) sorgt mit ihrer Anwesenheit nicht gerade für eine Beruhigung der Situation. Ihr Ehemann Charles(Chris Cooper) ist da schon besonnener, kann aber die Spannungen innerhalb der Familie auch nicht entschärfen. So weht ein scharfer Wind über die Einsamkeit der Plains direkt in die Familie Weston hinein und deckt schonungslos alles auf, was dort im Lauf der Jahre kaputt gegangen ist…2008 hat Tracy Lett für sein Theaterstück -August: Osage County- den Pulitzer Preis erhalten. Das Stück, das mich immer wieder mal an -Wer hat Angst vor Virginia Woolf- erinnerte, ist tiefgründig, aufrüttelnd, schmerzhaft und dabei ganz nah am wirklichen Leben. Letts Figuren wurden für die filmische Umsetzung von John Wells fantastisch in Szene gesetzt. Es ist vor allem die unglaubliche Präsenz einer Meryl Streep, die den Zuschauer sehr schnell dazu bringt Partei zu ergreifen. Im Lauf der Geschichte, wenn immer mehr Einzelheiten aus dem Leben der Westons bekannt werden, wanken wir urplötzlich zwischen Ablehnung und Verstehen. Es ist immer ein Balanceakt ein Theaterstück vor die Kamera zu holen. Hier hat es, meiner Ansicht nach, hervorragend funktioniert. In Szenen wie der Prügelei um die Valium-Tabletten oder der Verkündigung Violets über das Testament von Beverly hat -August: Osage County- seine ganz starken, bitterbösen Momente.Wenn sie sich über kleinere Familienstreitigkeiten ärgern oder mit ihrer familiären Gesamtsituation unzufrieden sind, schauen sie sich -August: Osage County- an. Sie werden sehr schnell erkennen, wie gut es ihnen geht. Wie die Mitglieder der Familie Weston sich gegenseitig „zerfleischen“, das ist schon eine ganz besondere Art von Folter. Am Ende kann einem jedes Familienmitglied einfach nur noch irgendwie leid tun. Übrigens: Der einzig „normale“Mensch im Haus der Westons war für mich die indianische Haushälterin Johnna(Misty Upham). Der Rest der Beerdigungsgäste verwandelt das Farmhaus tatsächlich in eine „Klapsmühle“…

Review: This is a great film with an ensemble cast featuring outstanding perfomances from Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. Only problem is the official trailer is totally misleading, cherry picking the funny moments to give a false impression of the film. It is funny in places but much of that is black comedy. In reality it’s an intense family drama where the funeral of the father reunites a family with secrets only for the past to once again tear them apart.(The trailer samples a catchy tune with the line, « When we were young » which doesn’t even feature on the soundtrack. If you’re interested it’s called, Stubborn Love by the The Lumineers. That’s about all I gained from watching the trailer.)

Review: I don’t think I’ve seen a film competing in the Oscar race this year with just as many powerhouse performances as « August: Osage County. » Every actor is cast perfectly in a film where each character is well written, although the movie itself is basically an abridged version of the stage show. On stage, « August » is a night of three acts and three and a half hours. On screen, it’s just about two hours long. Scenes were shortened, some were cut, but its essence remains.Tracy Letts, writer of the stage show, wrote this film adaptation as well. It appears that he didn’t mind cutting the film down considerably for the screen. The film is able to avoid becoming a « greatest hits » version of the play. Yet it can be called an abridged version of the stage show, but that’s not quite right either. It’s its own animal. It can’t help but feel stagy but I certainly don’t think that detracts from the experience. »August: Osage County » tells the story of the Weston family. Three sisters – Barbara (Julia Roberts), Ivy (Julianne Nicholson) and Karen (Juliette Lewis) come back home after their alcoholic, yet soulful and brooding father Beverly (Sam Shepherd) goes missing. Their mother, Violet (Meryl Streep) has basically ruined each one of these girls’ lives in one way or another. She has cancer of the mouth, but is constantly smoking like a chimney. Each character has their own story going on. Letts keeps just enough of each character in this condensed adaptation to make it feel like everybody is well-examined and written. I still wish it was the same three and a half hours that the play was, but I understand why that wasn’t an option.When a film contains numerous stellar performances like this, a complaint about the running time hardly means anything. Meryl Streep continues to prove that she can do no wrong. You’ve never seen her play a character like Violet Weston. She’s a serial killer, and words are her bullets. When she goes on « truth-telling » rampages, no one is safe. She gives a performance that might remind you of Elizabeth Taylor’s classic turn in « Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? ». A great woman whose moral and mental health is very much in question, who is biting, clever and ruthless. A twenty-minute long dinner table scene (which is one of the play’s three acts) is absolutely terrific, because this is where everything begins to disintegrate.Julia Roberts surprised me as well. She’s done a few incredible dramatic performances, but I mainly think of her as a rom-com actress. She has a meaty, complicated role in Barbara Weston, and she nails it. Other standouts include Julianne Nicholson, who I’m shocked isn’t a bigger star than she is. Margo Martindale is also fantastic as Aunt Mattie Fay. But the truth is there’s not a bad performance to be found in all of « August: Osage County ».One thing you must know before seeing this film is that it’s absolutely no comedy. Its trailers depict it as a lighthearted family comedy, and that’s not really true at all. It’s potent as both a drama and a comedy, however it’s not lighthearted in the slightest. These are miserable, miserable people. It’s relatable in so many ways, but you can remember, hopefully, that you and your family could be worse.Tracy Letts clearly loves manic, cynical people. There are so many highs, lows and dramatic confessions here, that you are likely to feel emotionally exhausted when it’s over.You’ll also be in a considerate state of shock when it’s all said and done. I sat in the theater, with a large crowd, who didn’t start to tinker out of the theater until the credits were almost over. It gave me the same experience that the stage show did, and I consider that to be a high compliment.Grade: A
