Review: WHAT A FIND!!!!!! This movie has been a favourite of mine for many years, and had only seen it aired once many years ago, so imagine my surprise to find it listed on your site. It was introduced to our Grandchildren when they were young, and are now thrilled as we are that they can still see it when they come visit, again our sincere thanks for making this movie available to us. It is one we love to watch.Susan and Bruce Button

Review: Brilliant film with a very young Harry Fowler. Good story well acted by all, top marks to Jack Warner. Great shots of post war London too.

Review: A boy in post-war Britain discovers that a comic in a boy’s adventure magazine is being used to encode instructions to criminals on how and where to pull off heists. The production uses a cast of hundreds of boys, drawn largely from the Boy Scouts (and one girl), pursuing the criminal gangs across scenes of post-war (bombed-out) Britain. Alastair Sim is the eccentric comic artist who doesn’t know his work is being tampered with before print.

Review: This is the beginning of what we have come to know as the Ealing comedy. A charming story of a group of children who believe their favourite comic is being used by crooks to send secret messages, they set out to foil the villains by planting false clues. All the children are excellent as are the adult cast especially Jack Warner and the marvellously larger than life Alastair Sim.The real hero of this romp is London. Again and again, the postwar bomb-ravaged city provides stunning scenery and a great stage for the action. The children move through ruins without a thought for danger building dens that any child would envy. It is as though the filmmakers wanted to capture this London before it inevitably disappeared. It is part of the vanished innocence at the heart of the film. One can watch this film again and again with pleasure.
