Review: J’apprecie Felicity J. et son jeula 2 ème commande (de remplaçement ) du DVD s’est bien passé (29/7)- il a livre AVEC la commande du 3 Juillet de Colis privé,perdue dans la nature – que j’ai renvoyé 75017 – Prony- Les transporteurs ne font pas leur METIERAussi,pour une distribution sur la France,MANQUE LES SOUS-TITRES EN FRANCAISMERCI

Review: J’aime, mais les dialogues vont trop vite. On ne parvient pas à tout saisir même en regardant un deuxième et une troisième fois. Dommage. L’histoire est mignonne mais le parallèle entre le rêve d’amour et le mariage quasiment imposé est un peu flou et pas suffisamment exploité. Les acteurs (trices) sont très bons et leur interprétation impeccable.

Review: I have to say, I’m shocked that so many people have given this film a bad review! I watched it last night and it is one of my new favorite films. The overall plot is, admittedly, rather slow moving, but this film wasn’t meant to be fast paced with lots of explosions and car chases, it was meant to be a deep examination of people. The film covered one day – Dolly’s wedding day, but throughout the film we got glimpses of past experiences and we also saw different perspectives of the events of the day. I thought the acting was very well done, Felicity Jones is very talented and Elizabeth McGovern really added a lot. Also the set of the film was absolutely beautiful! This film is very rich, visually, with beautiful costumes and contrast in the lighting between the present and the flashbacks. I loved the character development and the overall feel of the entire film. It really is one of my new favorite films! It is worth seeing if you like intelligent films that really examine the human condition but also have humor and a good bit of English culture!

Review: Cheerful Weather for the Wedding is based on a 1932 novella by Julia Strachey, now published by Persephone books. Coming in at only 1 hour and 30 minutes it’s a short film but I enjoyed every minute of it. I really loved the book when I read it and I haven’t been disappointed in the film.On the morning of her wedding bride-to-be Dolly is hiding in her bedroom taking surreptitious sips of rum from the bottle and considering that she might be making a rather terrible mistake.Meanwhile, downstairs her many and various relatives are arriving bringing the usual chaos, humour, and misery. The reason for Dolly’s despondency, as it turns out, is her former lover Joseph who arrives on the scene irritating Dolly’s mother (Elizabeth McGovern) beyond endurance and really throwing a spanner in the works.Interspersed with the day of the wedding we see rosy glimpses of the summer before when Dolly and Joseph first met and their developing love affair.It’s all terribly English full of repressed emotions and moments of very funny comedy mostly from the friends and relatives. Special mention must go to Ellie Kendrick as Dolly’s sister, Kitty, who is brilliant at being both very funny and a completely irritating younger sister and to Felicity Jones who I think we will be seeing a lot more of in the future.It’s nothing like Downton Abbey and it’s not supposed to be. It’s far more convincing, subtle and much funnier. Think more along the lines of E.M Forster’s A Room with a View or Stella Gibbon’s Cold Comfort Farm. A really delightful film for a winter’s day.

Review: I think this film was made with the intention of it being sophisticated, amusing and intriguing. Sadly it was none of these, it really did not work (for me). Initially I found the ‘flash backs’ confusing, as I think I was looking for ‘more’ and by the time I realised that there was very little in the way of ‘plot’ or ‘storyline’ the film was finishing. I didn’t find the characters particularly convincing, which was disappointing, given the cast of well knowns. Many of the scenes, (I thought) were too drawn out and I kept on expecting something hugely traumatic or amusing to happen………….it didn’t. Disappointing!
