Title: Une très belle édition
Review: Très heureux de cet achat, moi qui suis un adepte de Terry Gilliam et de son cinéma. Je ne pouvais pas passer à côté de cette édition « prestige ». La boîte est belle et très bien designé en raccord avec le ton du film. Et j’en suis, une nouvelle fois, très content. Je vous en remercie énormément et je compte bien évidemment revenir vers vous pour d’autres achats au cas où.Très bonne continuation et je vous souhaite une très bonne journée

Title: Tideland de Terry Gilliam
Review: Tideland est un film magnifique et totalement désespérant… l’humour est on ne peut plus noir et Gilliam ne l’a jamais poussé aussi loin dans le désespoir : les protagonistes, perdus dans leurs rêves inatteignables, se verront happés par l’impossibilité de réalisation de leurs aspirations, fussent-elles modestes et humaines…il faut bien du courage pour suivre le cinéaste sur ce chemin douloureuxmais bien sûr, Gilliam est un maître de ce désespoir – entendons par là, que nous ne lui ferons jamais le procès d’avoir porté à l’écran ce que Goya peignait et que nous admirons et… par ailleurs vénérons…

Title: Alice en sous-marin…
Review: Ce film est la version gothique et noire d’Alice au Pays des Merveilles, magnifique voyage dans l’imaginaire d’une petite fille que la vie n’a pas gatée (c’est le moins que l’on puisse dire !!). Oubliez le Burton à l’eau de rose, les espaces de la campagne américaine peuvent aussi être un territoire du rêve (et du cauchemar)…

Title: Un conte , un vrai !
Review: On ne sort pas indemne de ce film , c’est une oeuvre d’une telle intensité qu’il est impossible de le voir sans éprouvez une implication , comme une sorte d’aspiration au sein de cet univers que Terry Gilliam retranscrit , modélise , en un tour de main . Si ce film n’est pas pour tous les publics , il nen reste pas moins l’une des oeuvres majeures de ces derniéres annés . Une telle poésie , aussi macabre soit elle est rarement rencontrée dans un film mené avec une préçision d’orfévre . Un chef d’oeuvre voila ce qu’est cette oeuvre inclassable .

Review: Ainsi donc: c’est ce genre de sous-production qui fait crier les adeptes de Terry Gilliam au génie du septième art!!! »Sensibilité, subtilité et poésie » sont les mots utilisés au dos de la jaquette pour qualifier ce navet sans commune mesure. Il suffit cependant d’une poignée de minutes pour mesurer la médiocrité d’un scénario qui se veut une version trash d' »Alice aux pays des dégénérés. » Les personnages, ne sont pas de sympathiques originaux déjantés, mais des tarés vulgaires et grotesques issus d’une galerie de psychopathes hideux et de désaxés moches et malades, sans aucun charisme ni aucune crédibilité.Chaque séquence est d’un ennui mortel. La mise en scène est d’une absolue laideur. Les dialogues sont d’une telle platitude qu’on les croirait écrit par un ado en échec scolaire. La plupart des scènes sont sordides. Les décors sont aussi vides que le contenu artistique de ce mauvais film dont la niaiserie ne fait même pas sourire une seule seconde, mais laisse au contraire le spectateur pantois, déconcerté, désabusé, dépité et désespéré devant une telle surabondance de mauvais goût.Quant aux fans de Jeff Bridges, ils déchanteront bien vite, puisque, passé le premier quart d’heure, son personnage fait une overdose. Ce dernier se contentera donc de jouer le rôle d’un cadavre se décomposant petit à petit jusqu’au terme de l’histoire… Mais ça (hi hi!) c’est sûrement très rigolo pour tous le cinéphiles branchés capables d’appréhender au 18ème degré la subtilité et la poésie d’une telle valeur symbolique!Bref, on reste vraiment stupéfait de savoir qu’une oeuvre aussi inutile qu’insipide ait pu trouver un financement l’ayant amenée à son terme…

Review: I thought this move was brilliant and definitely not another cheesy Hollywood Movie. When you think of what it takes for movie to get a good rating it has it all including talented actors, a good plot (From the book Tideland) and good direction via Terry Gilliam. It was shot using the super 35 MM process with most outdoor scenes shot using a Twelve MM Wide Angle Lens. The musical score was original and was wonderful. They took full use of Digital Dolby 5.1 technology including wide dynamic range and frequency response. The theme is about a young girl Jeliza-Rose (Jodelle Ferland – about 10 years old in the movie) who was born a crack-baby. Her parents eventually die of there drug habits and she is left alone to shift for herself. The movie was shot from the eyes of this 10 old girl. She has a vivid imagination and puts it to good use by having thoughtful mature conversations with doll heads. She actually uses her own voice for the doll head conversations. She meets a twenty year old retarded man named Dickens (Brendan Fletcher) who has a mental capacity similar in age to Jeliza-Rose. Jeliza-Rose has a flirtatious relationship with Dickens but, it does not cross the line. Jodelle is a beautiful, intelligent and talented young actress. I believe she has a great future in the film industry. After reading other reviews, I agree with others in that you either love it or hate it. I loved it. It will go down as one of my most favorite movies of all time. Each time I watch it I get more out of it. It is too bad that we have so many narrow minded people out there who are afraid of watching a movie like this. I believe that there is a pedophile phobia in the US and the media fans these flames along with the religious zealots have a field day with it.

Review: This is an adaptation of Mitch Cullin’s Tideland, a category defying film that is at turns poetic, disgusting, absurd, and darkly funny (think the languid pacing of Spirit of the Beehive, the fever dream of Alice in Wonderland, the wry insanity Psycho, and a large dose of Terence Malik gone insane).In many ways, this is the purest Gilliam film since Brazil (a film that also borrowed liberally from other sources while maintaining its own originality), and hearkens back to the days when auteurs were not only allowed to follow their wildest muse but were expected to do so. And that, too, presents what will no doubt be Tideland’s greatest failing, as well as its highest achievement. Cinema has become so cynical in the last twenty years, so narrow in scope and so entertainment driven, that anything which requires viewers to experience a motion picture on its own terms is usually greeted with scorn.These would be very tough times, indeed, for the likes of a young Fellini, Kubrick, and Lynch. That’s not to say Tideland is a perfectly misunderstood creation, although it should be pointed out that those who are screaming foul about this film being pointless, self indulgent, and too weird are likely the very same people who ridiculed Grimm for being unoriginal, mainstream, and plain. Yes, there were walkouts at its screenings, gasps of shock, even angry grumbling. There were also laughs, applause, and continued debates concerning what the film was really about (how often does that occur these days after a screening?).In the end, Tideland will likely please a select group who prefer to experience cinema rather than opposing it with their own expectations (there were those who were still talking about it two days following its premiere, even when they hated it). But for those who are anxiously wanting Time Bandits 2 or desire some degree of Pythonesque humor, Tideland will disturb, bore, and profoundly bother to the point of contempt. Nevertheless, it is a very unique and, at times, incredible film, infused with at least two amazing performances, beautiful photography, and one of the most enigmatic endings I’ve seen in ages.Hate it or love it, few will be able to deny the lingering, ineffable vibrations left by this film, or that it stands as further proof that its director has stayed true to himself. Of course, prepare for the yin/yang laments to come in spades: Grimm would have been a better film had Gilliam been left to his own devices; Tideland would have been a better film had Gilliam not been left to his own devices. Poor Terry Gilliam; apparently he can do no right even when he does.Me? I loved every minute of it and I am putting this beside Fear and Loathing in the cult section.

Review: Confirmations for international customers: I ordered this from the United States and can confirm that this disk is region-free.Discoveries: The information on amazon.de does not identify the sound mix of the original English sound track. It is DTS-HD 5.1, just like the German.Costs for US customers: At the time I bought this, I paid 13.82 Euro including shipping. My American Visa converted this to $18.73 and added a $0.56 foreign transaction fee. So, in total, I paid $19.29, which is a very good price for this movie, considering how difficult it is to purchase.The film: Amazing! Fantastic! I love this movie. My wife loves this movie. Why other people hate this movie, I can only guess at, but I don’t believe they have rational reasons for doing so. To me, it is a dramatic reminder that happiness does not depend on external factors, but is driven by our own mental attitude. I could spend all day typing a thesis on Tideland, but the reader would get more value out of watching the film. Review: This film hopefully in years to come will be remembered as a classic. I feel it already is. The stylistic approach is Terry Gilliam at his best, contrasting a bleak « adult » world, with a child-like sense of playfulness and fantasy. It MUST be viewed subjectively through the eyes of a little girl (as Terry Gilliam says himself in the film’s prologue-which for me, really helped set the tone). Some of the story can make you squirm in your seat, fighting your own « adult » fears and ideas (and that is part of the point).I have a lot of respect for certain filmmakers and Terry Gilliam is a true artist. To me, a true artist is someone who creates something that is loved or hated… No indifferent responses. It means they create something so strong that it affects people, whether negative or positive, but it gets us to feel.
