Title: Beau, tout simplement
Review: Il n’y a pas qu’une manière de réagir suite à la mort accidentelle de son enfant. Nicole Kidman (excellentissime), la mère du bambin se terre (rabit hole = terrier) chez elle pour finalement virer à 180°. Le père, Aaron Eckhart, essaye au contraire de voir du monde et de continuer à faire des projets. Beaucoup de couples explosent suite à un tel deuil, mais eux, que feront-ils?

Title: Tout en retenue …
Review: Très beau film, très bien traité, une histoire extrêmement douleureuse racontée et montrée tout en retenue …Je ne mets que 4 étoiles parce que Nicole Kidman et son botox (donc son manque d’expressivité m’insupporte) …Comment supporter la perte d’un enfant, chacun réagit à sa manière :la mère vit recluse, refuse de voir ses amis, et finalement va faire une rencontre bouleversante …le père qui veut avancer dans la vie mais s’y prend un peu maladroitement, via un groupe de soutient …Et la famille qui ne fait que raviver la douleur sans le faire exprès ou pas … les conflits entre soeurs, entre mère et fille qui refont surface …Très bon jeu d’acteurs, très bon scénario … à voir !!!

Review: Contenu et contenant assez simple.Je trouve que le film ne reflète pas assez les sentiments que peuvent ressentir des parents ayant perdu un enfant, surtout un enfant qu’on a vu grandir.Et personnellement, j’ai déjà vu une meilleure performance de ces 2 acteurs

Review: Adapté d’une pièce à succès (jouée par Cynthia Nixon et John Slattery) par son auteur, David Lindsay-Abaire, et mis en images par l’icône gay John Cameron Mitchell (‘Hedwig and the angry inch’ et ‘Shortbus’), ‘Rabbit hole’ est un film sur le deuil, difficile évidemment, impossible même sur le moment, de l’enfant -un garçon de 4 ans qui a fini, alors qu’il essayait de rattraper son chien, qui venait de lui échapper, sous les roues de la voiture d’un jeune homme (Miles Teller)- du couple que forment Nicole Kidman et Aaron Eckhart.Huit mois après l’infernal accident, Aaron Eckhart se remet à sa manière (il travaille, fréquente un groupe de soutien, voit du monde, a envie de sortir, de faire l’amour, de vivre quoi) pendant que Nicole Kidman ne sort plus de son terrier (elle ne veut voir personne, a coupé les ponts avec quasiment tout le monde, n’a même plus vraiment envie de manger, veut vendre la maison, etc.). Sandra Oh (la coréo-canadienne bilingue qui joue la doctoresse asiatique de ‘Grey’s anatomy’), qui fréquente le même groupe d’écoute qu’Aaron Eckhart, pour celui-ci, et son envahissante famille (Dianne Wiest -‘En analyse 1&2’-, sa mère, qui a également perdu un fils -de 30 ans et drogué-, et Tammy Blanchard, sa sœur, fraîchement enceinte de Giancarlo Esposito -l’un des comédiens-fétiches de Spike Lee-), mais surtout le jeune homme de l’accident (qui exorcise son propre mal en travaillant sur une BD, qu’il a intitulé ‘Rabbit hole’) pour Nicole Kidman, deviennent heureusement pour eux, au moment où leurs chemins semblent les éloigner l’un de l’autre, leurs soutiens respectifs…Tout comme ‘Trois couleurs : Bleu’, ‘Rabbit hole’ est un long-métrage sensible et profond sur le deuil, écrit avec beaucoup de soin et joué avec une grande justesse par l’ensemble de ses principaux interprètes, et, tout comme ‘La chambre du fils’ de Nanni Moretti, c’est une réflexion pertinente et forte sur la douleur et la dislocation, la descente aux enfers et l’éventuelle renaissance que la mort d’un être cher provoque. Un tel décès est une sorte de tremblement de terre, après lequel rien n’est plus jamais comme avant, qui transforme profondément les êtres touchés et les engage sur un autre chemin, comme si tout recommençait…

Title: Excellent mais très dur
Review: Attention c’est un film très dur. Âmes sensibles, ce film ne laisse pas indifférent. Il traite d’un sujet particulièrement douloureux, la vie d’un couple (enfin…ce qu’il en reste) après la mort d’un enfant. Un jeu d’acteur brillant. Ce film m’a rapellé le « Crossing Guard » de Sean Peen.

Review: Bon jeu d’acteur, belle reconstitution de l’époque, mais l’émotion est un tant soit peu gâchée par la platitude de la réalisation. L’histoire n’en demeure pas moins intéressante et le film agréable à voir.

Review: Nicole Kidman tuvo su merecida nominación al Oscar ese año por este film, al que asumió como un reto personal y compromiso hasta económico ya que la produjo. El tema, guión y contenidos de este film son excelentes y « ásperos », ya que plantean « aristas » muy complicadas para los seres humanos, y de gran profundidad. Otra película pequeña pero que termina siendo grande. Con una Kidman intensísima e instintiva, y con unos secundarios excelentes, especialmente la talentosísima y siempre competente Diame Weist. Otra película para cualquiera que ame el buen y serio cine.

Review: A deeply moving film about a couple coping with the bereavement of their four year old son and the ways in which they try to get by. Dark and moving subject matter but very well handled and in places also darkly humorous in a touching and sensitive way. Very well acted by all concerned and tactfully done. Intelligent,thought provoking and insightful. I believe grieving families would benefiit from this film as it empathises with their loss in a respectful manner. Meanwhile insight is given to those who have not endured such loss to better understand the hurdles that must be overcome by a family mourning the loss of their child. It took me a long time to pick up the courage to watch this film as I feared the film would not do justice to the subject matter. In my view it handles it in a very touching and compassionate way . I agree with the other five star reviews and applaud all those who were involved in making this film the outstanding film it is.

Review: I followed the release of this movie with interest, though I couldn’t bear to go see it at the theatre. I read the critical reviews, and they were mixed, though I knew, good or bad, I would eventually see the film for myself. I am a grieving father. I lost my 18 year old daughter to a drunk driver in February of 2008. I watched the movie on dvd one weekend when my wife was out of town.I find the reviews of this film predictable. There are those who recognize the authenticity of it and those who don’t, just as there are those who understand grief and those who don’t, simply because they haven’t experienced it for themselves. As one who has experienced it – grief – I can only say that the portrayal of the characters in this film is remarkably accurate. Some reviewers judge the responses of the characters, others criticize the film for being too « sentimental ». How can anyone be too sentimental about the death of a child? When you have walked this road, you will be surprised. You will not understand the reactions of your closest friends, or even your own. As with Becca and her mother, my mother and I both lost 18 rear old daughters. I didn’t really understand my Mother’s grief until I lost my own daughter. Recently we met to record my sister’s story for StoryCorps, and on the way to the interview, we talked about how we both have come to the realization that we must give ourselves permission to do whatever we need to do in order to survive – even if those closest to us do not understand, even if we can’t understand or articulate our motivations ourselves.Some people do get stuck in grief. Some try to numb their pain with drugs or alcohol or sexual indulgence. Some withdraw and isolate themselves. Some look to find help in the company of those who have walked the road before them. Some surround themselves with mementos of their lost loved one’s life, and some need to rid themselves of the unbearable reminders of what they have lost. Some couples are driven apart. Some become closer. Some embrace the comfort to be found in religious faith, others blame God. There is no way to predict how this experience will affect and reorder one’s life and relationships. It is an emotional tsunami. And it is totally inappropriate and cruel to demand that anyone conform to anyone else’s expectation or timeline.I know that this isn’t a very articulate review of the film. As a grieving father, I simply want to affirm that David Lindsay-Abaire’s portrayal of how the death of a child can affect the lives of his or her parents is authentic and faithful to the real experience. It doesn’t exhaust the gamut of possible reactions, but it does touch on the big issues and difficulties that grieving parents deal with. I don’t think he is saying this is how it should be, but, rather, that this is just how it is. The film is not miserable and hopeless. But it honest enough not to offer cheap and unrealistic prescriptions. It forces us to wonder at the resilience of the human spirit and the power of love to persist in the face of seemingly overwhelming devastation. Don’t judge the characters. Watch and learn. Have a heart.
