Title: Film génial pour ceux qui aiment la science-fiction et les vikings
Review: Enfin un film de science-fiction avec des vikings, je rassure les personnes quand c’est les vikings, il n’y a pas de laser de vaisseau d’armure, il y a simplement un homme, un monstre et une amitié

Title: qualité blu ray irrégulière
Review: Plutôt étonnant pour un film nanti de moyens très honorables qu’il ne soit pas sorti chez nous sur grand écran. Le script est bien proche de celui de Beowulf mais il s’agit ici de prises de vue réelles et non d’images de synthèse et ici, l’esprit est plus SF que héroïque fantasy avec un monstre venu de l’espace particulièrement réussi.Apport HD : très mitigé. L’image ne souffre pas de gros défauts de pellicule ou de master. Niveau colorimétrie, c’est également bon. Le véritable problème vient de la définition trop souvent en retrait. De trop nombreux plans sont trop mous et quelqu’un même sensiblement embrumés. Cela dit, de très belles images s’affichent régulièrement à l’écran pour un impact HD évident tant sur des plans rapprochés que sur des plans larges agréablement détaillés. Mais trop de plans quelconques s’intercalent avec récurrence et dans l’ensemble, cela manque de piqué. Le grain est très discret la plupart du temps et se cantonne à quelques arrières plans sauf sur quelques images (très minoritaires) où il est visible même sur les visages. Un autre mauvais point, les noirs ne sont pas assez denses ce qui est dommageable étant donné que de nombreuses scènes se déroulent dans l’obscurité. Le transfert VC1 n’a cependant rien de catastrophique avec une image propre et un apport HD loin d’être inexistant. Mais on reste bien en deçà des capacités du support. Niveau son en revanche c’est presque un sans faute avec des encodages DTS HDMA en 7.1 en VF pour un DTS MDMA 5.1 en VO le plus souvent très dynamique mais étonnamment feutré sur certains passages de la VF.Bonus : 41′ de scènes inédites, story board, maquettes et croquis en SD : c’est pas énorme non plus.En résumé voici une édition blu ray imparfaite mais qui en terme de son comme d’image parvient le plus souvent à se placer au dessus de la qualité d’un bon DVD.

Review: J’ai vu ce film pour la première fois, il y a quelques années. J’ai adoré le mélange de style historique/viking et futuriste/science fiction. Les acteurs sont bons et crédibles dans leurs rôles. J’ai vraiment accroché sur ce film et je ne regrette pas mon achat.

Review: Also ich hab den Film die Tage im TV gesehen und gleich bei Amazon als Blu Ray Ausgabe bestellt. Klar, die Thematik des Films ist im Grunde vornehmlich für Fans des Mittelalter- und Fantasygenres ausgelegt, die wenigen Ausschweifungen in die SciFi Thematik am Anfang und Ende des Films fallen als nettes Gimmick auch gar nicht so sehr ins Gewicht, machen die Geschichte aber durchaus ein Stück weit interessanter. Ist an sich ein recht interessanter Plot und für das Budget recht ausdrucksstark dargestellt, einschließlich der Rückblicke auf den Heimatplaneten.Eine schlechte schauspielerische Leistung kann ich wie andere hier allerdings nicht bemängeln. Auch wenn der Hauptharakter Kainan teilweise etwas steif wirkt und anderweitig hätte sicher noch besser besetzt werden können, so darf man nicht vergessen, dass wir hier von einem Low Budget Film mit etwa 45 Millionen Doller reden, der trotz allem super umgesetzt und auch schauspielerisch meines Erachtens sehr gut und passend besetzt wurde.Würde das Ganze qualitativ und umsetzungstechnisch in eine Reihe stellen mit Filmen wie « Solomon Kane » oder « Der Adler der Neunten Legion ». Geschichte top, Umsetzung top, Besetzung gut und Effekte für das Budget ebenfalls gut. Als Fan von « Herr der Ringe » und « Avatar » bin ich ja eigentlich etwas verwöhnt, aber Filme mit einem Budget von über 200 Millionen Doller kann man eben mit solch einer Kleinproduktion wie « Outlander » nicht vergleichen.Fazit: Ich find den Film toll, einzig der Preis für die Blu Ray Version ist noch etwas abgehoben für einen Film der schon 2010 erschienen ist. Normalerweise liegen die Preise für solche Filme im Handel für die Blu Ray zwischen 11 und 14 Euro, die für die normale DVD bei 8 bis 9,99 Euro.Auch die technischen Mängel an der Datenträgerumsetzung, die hier beschrieben wurden, kann ich nicht nachvollziehen. Also da würd ich einfach mal ein Softwareupdate am Player machen, das behebt die Probleme mit den meisten neuen Blu Ray Scheiben. Ist halt alles noch nicht ganz so ausgereift und von Hersteller zu Hersteller verschieden.

Review: OK, if you saw this on the shelf of your local DVD store and picked it up to read the back, you’d be forgiven for thinking this film would be complete rubbish. Everything about it sounds absurd: space men, Vikings, aliens; it’s got turkey written all over it… but you’d be wrong.The film, amazingly, works really well. The story makes sense once you start to watch it and is believable (in as far as any sci-fi film about Vikings and aliens can be) and it’s well done too.It’s based on Beowulf & Grendel, a theme the writer had wanted to do a film based around for some time, and after years of trying, he suddenly hit upon a novel idea: What if the legend were actually true? What set of events could have lead to such a tale happening in the real world? Et voila! The story of Outlander was born.The characters and acting are good throughout and the special effect are quite magnificent. Also the costumes and action sequences are all excellent as well. Everything about this film was spot on. You felt for the characters as the story unfolded and were emotionally invested in their story, punching the air on more than one occasion.The alien was cool too. And very menacing. And I liked the way the creature had been designed – almost like an Angler fish from the deep sea, using lights and bioluminescence to dazzle, distract and hypnotise its prey. And when you got to see the beast in all its glory you weren’t disappointed – the monster looked incredible.Now, I must admit, I’m a sucker for this type of film: Vikings. Anything with vikings or a ‘MadMax’ type feel to it, like ‘Doomsday’ for insatnce, I love – but I don’t think I’m being biased. I watched this with a group of friends and they all thoroughly enjoyed it too. Not surprising, I think, given the story’s roots – a good tale, is a good tale whoever tells it.Originally I had a DVD copy but liked it so much I bought it again on Blu Ray, as it’s the type of film that reallys suits the format. The picture quality is sharp and crisp and the special effects look great. Definately a film that benefits from a viewing on Bluray, and I like it that much I had no problem justifying spending the cash on an upgrade anyway.
