Review: Dans ce film, il est question des années lycée, de l’adolescence, des liens d’amitié et d’amour. Et puis, dans ce tumulte d’émotions, de recherche d’identité, il y a une histoire. Celle de Simon, 16 ans, qui porte en lui un lourd secret : il est gay et personne ne le sait.Ce film n’est pas réservé aux adolescents. J’ai plongé dans cette histoire et je me suis régalée malgré mes 50 bougies. Et mon fils, âgé de 11 ans, a également été emballé. Surtout nous avons pu discuter ensemble de sujets telle la différence et l’homosexualité. Des thèmes qui sont traités avec légèreté et humour. Ce film mériterait d’être vu dans les collèges et lycées pour créer du dialogue autour de ces thèmes.Un film coup de cœur à voir et à revoir.

Review: J’ai bien aimé ce film que j’ai regardé avec mon fils adolescent. Il y est surtout question d’amour, et même si on tombe amoureux d’une personne de même sexe que soi. Ce film aborde également la difficulté que peuvent avoir certains jeunes homosexuels pour en parler à leurs amis ou leur famille, même si cette dernière est ouverte et bienveillante ! Le visionnage de ce film peut aider à aborder le sujet de l’homosexualité. Aucune scène choquante.

Review: Dear Amazonians,Let’s talk about Simon and Blue, shall we?Adapted from the novel Simon VS the Homosapiens Agenda (later a movie-tie-in with movie title) It’s the story of Simon Spier, a closeted teen in his last year at high school. He has the ideal family, the best friends, a dog called Bieber (yes after Justin) Everything seems fine for him, he’s even talking to another closeted kid at his school under the name « Blue ». But after leaving his gmail logged in at school and another student reading his emails, he find himself blackmailed from Martin Addison,. Simon has one mission, to get Martin together with his best friend Abby, or his emails will get leaked…Continuing on the same story line (maybe a few changed, but hey! it’s Hollywood!) You follow Simon as he tries his hardest to make sure his emails don’t get leaked,and Blue stop talking to him, even if that means lying to his friends.This is a amazingly funny/cute/emotional/feel-good, and in a few scenes, a pass-me-the-tissues film. It’s important to me because, well, being an LGBT teen, I didn’t have this kind of film when I needed it most, and now that it has come along, I feel as though Simon and I are the same person (of course, no one is as good looking as Nick Robinson).This is a film that everyone should watch, regardless of their sexual orientation, it’s a film that is starting conversations, helping those who struggle with their orientation, and it accepts it.I guess what I’m trying to say is, just watch the movie, laugh and cry and when it finishes go and hug the person, maybe you might know them or you might not, but hug them, phone them, tell them that you are there.Love, Keiran

Review: Wonderful movie and has a closer relationship to reality. A coming of age movie and has a great story. The ending is great and as I hadn’t seen the end on a flight so had to get the Blu-Ray which arrived a little earlier than expected and had to be watched on arrival. The extras are very interesting and as enjoyable as the movie itself – well worth watching.

Review: I was far too closeted to see this movie at the cinema, so have been waiting what seemed like an age for it to come out on DVD.It was worth the wait!What an amazing film! It doesn’t pretend to be anything other than a heart-warming teen rom com, but it delivers so much more.I was laughing and crying simultaneously. At one point in the film, when I realised I’d been « holding my breath » for 34 years, I entirely lost it. My cosy closet became unbearably claustrophobic and I desperately needed to break out.Two sleepless nights and two more viewings of the film later, I found myself ringing my parents for the conversation I’d been dreading my whole life. That evening I posted my coming out speech on social media.The support from my family and friends has been overwhelming. I feel as if the weight of the world has been lifted off my shoulders. I’m more relaxed, happy and confident than I have ever been, and somehow I just feel « right ». It’s difficult to explain.Love, Simon was the catalyst I’ve been longing for all my life. It’s such an important film, yet so accessible and enjoyable. I wish I’d been able to watch it in a cinema, but given the state I was in at the end, it’s probably best I didn’t.I think most people would enjoy this film. It’s up there with the best feel good movies, but it takes you on an emotional ride which is deeply satisfying. If you’re gay and in the closet, then be prepared. It may have a much more significant impact on your life than you could ever expect.
