Review: Une réflexion sur ce qu’est la vie.Et si les gens qui vivent leur vie, se rendaient compte finalement qu’ils avaient eu trop peu de temps pour vivre ? Comment peut-on juger qu’une vie soit bien vécue ? »j’ai eu la chance de vivre malgré tout, ce petit temps avec Tommy ».Angleterre, années 70.Dans un pensionnat, perdu dans la campagne, sont éduqués des enfants.Parmi eux, Cathy, jeune fille, très créative, très curieuse, très observatrice ; Ruth, son amie, plutôt évasive, et Tommy, un jeune garçon colérique, et émotif. Très tôt, naît une attirance mutuelle naturelle entre Cathy et Tommy et celle-ci n’échappe à personne, pas même à Ruth. Jalouse de cette intimité, cette dernière va séduire Tommy, qui se laisse prendre au jeu.Mais tout n’est pas si simple, car ces enfants sont particuliers : ils ont été conçus pour servir de donneurs d’organe. Leur destinée est donc le don à autrui et ils sont promus à une courte vie. Leur enfance dans la pensionnat est ainsi totalement maîtrisée. Ainsi, on fait courir le bruit qu’il ne faut jamais dépasser les barrières du pensionnat, sous peine de trouver la mort. Une jeune institutrice cherchant à éveiller des soupçons, sera rapidement évincée ; tout esprit vif, assoiffé de liberté, sera retrouvé sans vie. Les enfant sont formatés à l’idée qu’ils ne servent qu’à faire don de leurs organes pour sauver d’autres vies. Car eux ne sont pas « humains » mais sont des objets de la science. Chaque sortie et venue est badgée, tout est maîtrisé.Une curieuse dame, vient parfois récupérer les dessins des enfants, afin de les mettre dans son musée.Mais quel est ce musée ? est-ce le seul échappatoire que ces enfants puissent avoir à leur destinée ? En effet, un bruit court que les couples vraiment amoureux et qui en font preuve, peuvent se voir accorder un sursis.Pourquoi donc ? puisque leur esprit est totalement manipulé ?Les années passent. Et Cathy, désespérée et ne trouvant plus sa place auprès de ses amis Tommy et Ruth, décide de devenir accompagnant, ce qui lui laisse un peu plus de temps à vivre. Son expérience va la reconduire auprès de Ruth, qui en est à son deuxième don, et qui ne survivrait pas à un troisième. Elle conforte alors Cathy, à retrouver Tommy.Pleins d’espoir, et d’amour, de passion, d’amitié, ils s’en vont quémander l’impossible, se rendant compte, qu’en fait leur « vie » n’est pas un droit.

Review: Je suis tombée par hasard sur ce film à la télévision et je l’ai tout de suite commandé, sous sa forme cinématographique ET littéraire, pour pouvoir le partager. Une vrai découverte.J’ai été immédiatement emportée par l’histoire et par ses personnages dont le jeu extrêmement subtil vous fait complétement oublier qu’ils ne sont que des acteurs, jusqu’à ce que vous atterrissiez brutalement au moment du générique dans votre fauteuil, ramené à la réalité.Oui, les acteurs servent admirable l’histoire. Mais que dire de l’histoire, sinon qu’elle aussi vous subjugue, vous effraie et vous interpelle, comme on dit, tant on sent qu’elle s’approche dangereusement de ce qui pourrait être, de ce qui est peut-être, ou qui sera si les hommes ne savent pas mieux gérer les immenses possibilités que la science leur offre, en les canalisant vers un but plus « humain » qu’égoïste et mercantile. Fascinant.

Title: Très beau et très étrange film
Review: Je n’ai pas grand chose à rajouter aux très bons commentaires des internautes précédents, à part qu’ils en disent beaucoup trop sur l’histoire. C’est un beau film, angoissant car si on ne réfléchit pas trop on a envie de leur donner un coup de pied au derrière à ces jeunes mais non, c’est leur vie… La lumière et la couleur sont d’une très grande importance dans le film, on le remarque tout de suite, les tonds sont pastels, chauds par moment quand tout va bien, froids à d’autres et le bluray donne une image parfaite sur ce point. Pour le son, de la HD pour la version anglaise uniquement que je vous conseille, en plus des sous-titres ce n’est pas très difficile à comprendre. En bonus, les secrets du film que je conseille, avec interview des acteurs principaux du réalisateur et de l’auteur du livre.

Review: Une jeune femme regarde un jeune homme sur une table d’opération. Retour en arrière: nous sommes dans un orphelinat où l’on élève des enfants et adolescents en les isolant de l’extérieur. Un jour, un professeur nouvellement arrivé informe sa classe qu’ils sont des clones élevés pour servir de médicament à des personnes réelles, par le prélèvement d’organe.L’idée de départ est intéressante, malheureusement très mal traitée. Les enfants puis adolescents (puis jeunes adultes) sont résignés. Il n’y a pas non plus de réflexion en profondeur. Plus que sur l’usage de personnes humaines comme médicaments, le spectateur s’interroge sur l’absence de révolte, d’énergie pour vivre, d’approfondissement. Les jeunes apprennent qu’au bout de 3 à 4 prélèvements, ils mourront, dans la jeunesse de leur début de vie adulte. C’est leur destin. Ça les dérange à peine, apparemment.Le spectateur s’interroge aussi sur la réalisation’ lente, triste.Les personnages ne sont pas intéressants. Le vide de leur existence déborde sur leurs vies sentimentales, professionnelles, etc. Sans parler du vide de leur vie spirituelle. Seule l’héroïne a un peu de relief. Un peu. Il y avait pourtant matière à faire un film profond et touchant.Sur le thème du clonage pour soigner l’original, le film « Ma vie pour la tienne » est nettement plus réussi.Quelques images indécentes émaillent le film.

Review: Der Film schildert das zermürbende Leben geklonter Menschen, die geschaffen und erzogen werden, um zuerst als Betreuer für kranke Menschen und auch Spender zu leben; dann sich als Spender von eigenen Organen für kranke Menschen zu verwirklichen und danach ihr Leben zu « vollenden ». Diese Schilderung ist eine Parabel für Geschehnisse, die sich im Leben eines Menschen wirklich ereignen können, wie z.B.- der allmähliche Verlust von Lebensfähigkeiten der Menschen durch das Nachlassen ihrer Organtätigkeiten oder Ausfallen der Organe nach und nach während des Alterns. Jeder findet dann sein Leben mehr und mehr zermürbend und muss sich selbst zuschauen, wie ursprünglich vorhandene Fähigkeiten sich vermindern, ohne dass er viel daran ändern kann. Eine tiefe Hoffnungslosigkeit bildet sich dann oft im Gesichtsausdruck ab. Dazu brauche ich kein geklonter Mensch zu sein, der durch wen auch immer verpflichtet wurde, seine Organe zu spenden, um andere Leben noch zu fördern oder zu retten….. oder weiteres Beispiel einer Parabel- Es wird Krieg erklärt und Menschen werden als Soldaten zum Kampf und zum gegenseitigen Töten rekrutiert. Dann hilft auch selbst die echte Liebe zweier Menschen zueinander nicht, die Rekrutierung aufzuschieben ….. und wenn du sehr, sehr viel Glück hast, überlebst du die Kriegskämpfe und findest wieder zur Liebe zurück, oft aber nicht.Es fiel mir nur auf in diesem Film, wie sensitiv Carey Mulligan ihre Rolle in der Person der Kathy verwirklichte. Wenn eine empfindsame Seele, wie die ihre, mit dem menschlichen Bewusstsein verwoben ist, strahlt oft eine intensive seelische Wärme, verbunden mit einer leisen Traurigkeit aus den Augen. Diesen ganz eigenen Charme eines Menschen verspüren dann auch andere, spätestens beim Austausch von Blicken. Wann Carey M. eine einstudierte Rolle spielt und wann sich selbst, ( siehe auch ihre Fotogalerie im Internet) konnte ich beim Schauen dieses Films nur vermuten. Wahrscheinlich kann eine Filmrolle umso perfekter verkörpert werden, je näher sie das Naturell des Schauspielers trifft.Alle Szenen waren auch vom aufgezeigten Umfeld her sehr gut ausgewählt, so war es für mich sehr fesselnd diese Romanverfilmung zu verfolgen. Der Betrachter bleibt am Ende des Filmes für längere Zeit betroffen zurück und überdenkt vielleicht sein eigenes Leben, da der Roman eine Parabel ist. Auch deshalb ist es weniger belangvoll die Frage zu beantworten, warum sich die geklonten Menschen nicht gegen ihr Schicksal als Organspender auflehnen, sondern es annehmen, so wie alternde Menschen eben auch ihr Leben annehmen müssen. Nach dem Ablauf der ihnen gegebenen Zeiten, « vollendet » die Evolution das irdische Dasein aller Spezies. Aller Leben fehlt die « letzte Erfüllung » auf der Erde.Beeindruckend ist auch wie im Film das Bild « Geschrei » von Edvard Munch verwirklicht wird. Das was Munch motiviert haben könnte, das « Geschrei » zu lithographieren wird klarer. Kathy und Tommy verfolgen ein Gerücht, das über den Aufenthalt von Schülern in Hailsham in anderen Schulen entstanden ist: Findest du während deines Aufenthalts in Hailsham als Paar in Liebe zueinander, dann kann beider « Vollendung » mehrere Jahre hinaus geschoben werden, um die gefundene Liebe zu verwirklichen. Beide finden trotz einiger Verwicklungen durch die Freundin Ruth zu ihrer gemeinsamen Liebe und wollen das Gerücht auf seinen Wahrheitsgehalt ergründen. Sie besuchen die ehemalige Schulleiterin, befragen sie und erfahren nach und nach, dass dieser Gedanke doch nur ein Gerücht über die Schule in Hailsham war. Der Film zeigt perfekt, dass die sensitive Kathy während dieses Gespräches als Erste begreift, dass es nur ein Gerücht war, ihre ganz leise weinende Seele spiegelt sich dabei in ihren Augen.Tommy versucht zu verstehen, aber so richtig trifft ihn diese Wahrheit erst während beider Rückfahrt im Wagen durch die Nacht. Er bittet Kathy den Wagen anzuhalten, steigt dann aus und läuft im Scheinwerferlicht nach vorne, reißt seine Arme nach oben und schreit, schreit sich seinen Seelenschmerz aus dem leib. Kathy steigt ebenfalls aus dem Wagen, läuft zu ihm hin, umarmt ihn, im Schmerz verbunden sinken beide langsam kniend auf die nasse Fahrbahn nieder. Kathy lässt ihn nicht los und versucht Tommy durch noch intensivere Umarmung zu trösten.Auch wieder ein treffendes Sinnbild über das Leid, das überall in der irdischen Welt zu finden ist. Dem Menschen wird das Leid in der Welt, teils auch durch seine Handlungen verursacht, im Laufe seines Lebens irgendwann bewusst und er kann nur noch vor Entsetzen laut schreien, … siehe « Geschrei », Lithographie von Edvard Munch.Für mich ist diese Romanverfilmung « never let me go » eine Parabel, deren Inhalte jederzeit durch wirkliche Lebensumstände ersetzt oder auch ergänzt werden könnte, man lasse nur seine eigene Erfahrungen fantasievoll schweifen, da das Leben um einem herum sehr vielfältig abläuft.Carey Mulligan, eine sensitive Schauspielerin, war für die Rolle der Kathy die perfekte Wahl.

Review: Never Let Me Go calls into question everything from where we get our food, from animals to the migrant workers who pick our vegetables, to the people who cook and clean for us, all those unseen people who make our life convenient. This film just ups the ante by introducing the concept of organ donors and elects to focus on them to the exclusion of the other ‘real world’. This is very important to understand. One of the constant, and rather mindless, criticisms of this film was the ‘ol why don’t they just run away’ routine. Simply put, if this society is technologically advanced enough to have this donor program it would stand to reason they would be adept at using microchip or DNA tracking ability. At various times we see the donors check in with their bracelets, we can assume they have an ability to easily track the whereabouts of these valuable donors. In addition, we have fairly recent history to show us the answer to this silly critique. No rational, intelligent people apply this ‘run away’ trope to European Jews ethnically cleansed in the Holocaust. Nor Bosnia, the Killing Fields of Cambodia, Indonesia, the Kulaks in the Soviet Union and ad infinitum. Just read a few history books and one will discover all the sociological, historical, and behavioral reasons these things happen that I don’t have time to elucidate here.As to why exactly this film didn’t find the audience it so richly deserved, it’s very difficult to say. There are precedents though. The film that most quickly comes to mind is Hitchcock’s masterpiece Vertigo. It landed with a resounding thud when it came out, but in decades since has inched itself into the number one greatest film ever made just nudging out Citizen Kane in the most recent comprehensive critics poll. What probably plagued Vertigo is probably at work here as well. Compared to his prior thrillers like: Rear Window, Dial M for Murder, The Trouble with Harry, and The Man Who Knew too Much, Vertigo wasn’t the same kind of plot driven thriller. It plays more like a slow burn psychological study dissecting the male psyche a la Bergman’s Hour of the Wolf or Bresson’s Diary of A Country Priest hidden in the guise of a Hitchcock thriller. After all, two thirds into the film is the ‘reveal’, Vertigo is much more than that however. It just took that long for audiences to catch up with the subtly and brilliance of the film. A similar dynamic is at work with Never Let Me Go, people seem to be concerned with petty plot points that really aren’t at all pertinent to what this film is all about.One need look no further than Mark Romanek’s first film, One Hour Photo, to conclude he’s a Kubrick fan. Many of the slow zoom shots on Robin Williams reminiscent of Barry Lyndon and especially The Shining. While I thought the film was very well done, nothing in it indicated the utter brilliant, mastery of the medium Romanek puts on display here. Obviously, coming from the world of commercials and music videos, one would expect a well shot, well edited and designed, technically proficient film. However, this is the work of a fully mature artist. The sensibility, sensitivity, and aesthetic choices here are perfect across the board. Clearly, the subject matter would indicate a technically advanced, futuristic society, but rather than fall into the usual sci-fi visual cues Romanek opts for a radically different approach. This is an alternate reality, focus on reality. If it were set in the typical dystopian future, the viewer could just easily dismiss it as, « oh well, that’s way in the future. » Instead, this is here and now. This looks like a reality we know and understand, a world WE live in. This makes it all the more unsettling. As mentioned, every aspect of the film contains impeccable craftsman ship: script, performances, cinematography, production design, editing, and maybe most importantly the score. Rachel Portman’s music maybe be the best film composition since Bernard Herrman’s score for Vertigo. I’m usually resistant to a score that tyrannizes the narrative, guiding us through what to feel and think. Simply, most film scores of the last few decades. For instance, in a film like Michael Mann’s The Insider, much of the score is overbearing, hampering the power of what’s on screen. In another Mann masterpiece, Manhunter, some of the Shreikback songs impossibly date the film to the Eighties. Never Let Me Go is a completely different animal. It does what all great film scores do, it compliments the visual experience, enhances it, imbues itself in the film’s DNA so you can’t possibly imagine the film without it. And, that’s exactly what we have here.I do believe we are looking at future Vertigo in Never Let Me Go. In my mind, it’s easily one of the best films I’ve seen in the last few decades. It is my sincerest hope that those serious about Cinema will give this film a second look. Just a ripple out in the vast ocean, but sometimes that’s how the most powerful movements begin: from the heart! It’s a film that’s challenging, difficult, emotionally resonant. It makes us ask questions about our very existence, our very humanity. Isn’t that what great art is all about?

Review: malgré la présence de très bons interprètes,ce film m’a profondément décu.je ne suis pas un critique professionnel,et n’utilise pas leurs mots pompeux pour juger un film.j’utilise mon ressenti.pour ce film il est resté de marbre.lorsqu’un film me plait je le vis pleinement entierement,comme dernièrement lorsque j’ai revu black swan il m’avait littéralement envouté encore.never let me go est un film d’un ennui mortel.
