Review: J’adore ce film pour son atmosphère dramatique et drôle les comédiens et Tom Hanks partageant ou pas sa passion pour la musique avec la vieille dame j’ai oublié son nom mais on sait de qui je parle . À signaler que c’est un remake du film arsenic et vieille dentelle,ce film comme le premier est excellent je conseille de revoir le premier pour comprendre celui-ci.a voir et à revoir sans modération.

Review: Despite the description saying the case may have minor wear and tear the case and DVD itself seemed in perfect condition. No scratches, no problems with playback. Also shipped and received WAY faster than predicted. I’ll definitely come back for any future movies I may be looking for.

Review: I really like this Coen brothers movie. Sure, it’s lighter than their dark films like « No Country for Old Men » or « Blood Simple ». But so what, this is a comedy. And a typical Coen comedy. Tom Hanks is brilliant in the role of the bad guy, a shady but charming latin professor aspiring to rob a casino. I have a hard time seeing any faults in this movie (and I can’t understand the low ratings). Compared to all other « comedys » that Hollywood churns out every day this is a masterpiece! If you like other Coen comedys like « Burn After Reading » or « Intolerable Cruelty », you will probably like « The Ladykillers ».Addition: some reviewers find the Coen version of « Ladykillers » inferior to the 1955 original, starring Alec Guiness and Peter Sellers. Now I have seen the original, and I don’t agree. While the original is a good and clever movis, the Coen remake is better in all respects and elevates the concept to a new level.

Review: Lets get it over with – DON’t compare to the original – the humour, style and script are significantly different, only the basic plot premise remains the same.Tom Hanks is the eccentric mastermind aiming to steal from a floating casino, and to do this he needs to operate out of the basement of an old coloured church going lady. The misfits he has gathered to do the job are so inept, that things go ever further awry as the movie goes on leading to deliciously black humour of the very Coen variety.The Coens excel themselves as usual in the sparkling verbiage – Tom Hanks is hysterical as the professor who has swallowed at least one dictionary, with his wonderful explanations and mild epithets. This is contrasted with Irma P. Halls show stealing coloured lady, who sits every evening at the portrait of her late husband – who watches with ever varying expressions on the surveyings leaving us in no doubt as to what he would have thought…Less successful by far is the jarring profanity of Marlon Wayans, who should really have been in a different movie altogether.The two other major stars as usual in a Coen Brothers movie area) the music, which instead of the bluegrass showcase of ‘O Brother’ is now a Gospel music showcase, which gives the movie some much needed life and motion when it is danger of looking like a stageplay, andb) the fantastic sepia hued cinematography which is a delight to watch and succeeds in much the same way as ‘O Brother’ to make this a stylised slightly surreal version of realityThere really is some very funny humour of wordplay, situation and slapstick variety in this, but with a few jarring notes (Wayans, the profanity) but if you are willing to not even think about the other movie of the same name, accept this as a pleasingly surreal comedy of a type so rarely made – really only when the Coen Brothers make a movie in fact.

Review: Price was as low as it gets. This movie is worth buying just for the two church scenes alone. The choir director (late Ricky Grundy) is hilarious. Add Tom Hanks ridiculous persona and enjoy.
