Title: Celle ci ne pète pas
Review: Un film que j’ai découvert en 2024 et qui n’a pas pris une ride. Le film est assez court mais cela permet une narration fluide sans temps mort. Les maquillages et les transformations du personnage sont toutes plus réussies l’une que l’autre. Beaucoup de moments vous mettront mal à l’aise, c’est une vraie réussite. Il est devenu en un seul visionnage un de mes top 10 de films.

Title: Une qualité propre et efficace
Review: Le packaging est simple, mais efficace. Le film bénéficie d’une bonne qualité visuelle et sonore, même si je n’ai pas testé la version française. Je n’ai pas non plus testé les suppléments, qui ont l’air cependant nombreux et fournis. Une étoile en moins car le disque n’a pas de menu principal et s’ouvre directement sur le film, ce qui est fréquent sur les blu-ray de films rétros, mais que je trouve épuisant et un poil fainéant.

Title: Excellent film
Review: La Mouche est une expérience cinématographique captivante et révolutionnaire. David Cronenberg parvient à fusionner habilement le corps-horreur avec une histoire d’amour poignante, créant ainsi un film qui reste dans l’esprit bien après la fin. Jeff Goldblum livre une performance remarquable, apportant à son personnage à la fois une vulnérabilité touchante et une intensité saisissante. Les effets spéciaux sont époustouflants, ajoutant une dimension visuelle saisissante à cette exploration de la nature humaine et de ses limites. ‘La Mouche’ est bien plus qu’un simple film d’horreur ; c’est une œuvre d’art provocante et inoubliable.

Review: If you are looking for Katanas and Samurai, this is not your film. It takes place in the 1930’s long after those things are gone. It is about a mother of two children dealing dealing with the ramifications of her husbands moral objections to the Japanese war with China, to a period just after the Hiroshima as seen entirely from this one womans perspective. Like all Japanese movies, there is no truly happy ending, one bit of the film making art that the Japanese never mastered.By the end of the film Kaibie has lost a husband who died ignominiously in prison (for not thinking like a true Japanese), a potential replacement (one of her husbands students) has been shipped off to be killed in China (actually on the way home), and her favorite relative has been fried at Hiroshima. To make matters worse, she was dispossessed by her father who was embarrassed by her husband at a dinner party where he is showing off his new trophy wife. Her two daughters do survive and prosper however we find in the epilogue, one being a doctor and the other an art teacher. The last scene has Kaibie on her death bed dieing of old age (The happiest event of the movie – that someone died of old age) with her two daughters in attendance. It is modern Japan at this point and we see the results of the womans excellent efforts with these two kids. Her last words do upset Teruyo, the youngest daughter, now middle aged, ensuring that no one comes away feeling good.As you read this review, remember that this is very much a classic Japanese film and that all the rules apply. This movie was a study of how Japanese society worked in the 30’s and 40’s and is not a « feel good always happy » American film. There is no bad guy, it is a focused look at misery and deprivation, with small amounts of kindness thrown in along the way. Like life, Japanese films come with inspirational but tragic endings. This is the Japanese version of a chick flic and has enough emotion to make a woman happy.Normally, I only purchase Samurai films, but I went with this to sample the culture. It was a good buy, and while I won’t watch it over and over, it is one of the most recommended works in my collection.

Review: 　『日本はもうこの母を忘れている。母（かあ）べえ。』という前宣伝華やかであった。　この意味はこの作品を観ると納得する。　昭和15年から、現在まで、日本国の変遷を山田洋次監督は　おだやかに、しかし　怒りを込めて　山口出身の女性にたくした。　インテリ夫婦は当時の時代のうねりの渦中で生きていきていた。お互いに「○べえ」と呼び合う自由主義的家族。夫は治安維持法にひっかかった。　夫が逮捕され、そして、その愛弟子浅野忠信が登場。三人の女性達をまもる。　　夫は転向せず、獄中で死んだ。二人の娘を育てながら生き抜いた母。　「母べえ」こと、吉永小百合である。　　時代はさらにすすみ、真珠湾攻撃以後、日本は「どつぼ」の中に入り　大切なる日本男子を一挙に殺害した。　浅野忠信にも赤紙がきた。戦死した。　　敗戦、昭和20年。アメリカが広島と長崎に原爆を投下した。　その後は、いつのまにか奇妙な日本社会ができあがっていた。　今の日本に違和感を持つ者は　老いてゆき死んでいった。　山田洋次は踏ん張ってくれた。　現在の日本に必要な　くそ真面目な　作品を　山田洋次は作った。　この作品に映り出された状況をみて　「そんな時代があったのか」と　今の若者達は想像する力があるのだろうか。　最後に、「母べえ」の死をみとる医師になった長女を倍賞千恵子が演じていることを伝えておく。　　久しぶりに観る傑作。　まもなく　8月6日、広島に原爆投下した国家は厳然としてある。14万人死去。3日後に長崎で原爆投下。7万人死去。「被爆者」という名のもとに　ずっと監視されている人たちも数少なくなった。　最後に、山田洋次は　淺野忠信をなぜ選んだのか。彼は黒木和雄監督の名作『父と暮せば』で宮澤リエと共演している。　戦時中の日本、さらに太平洋戦争とは何であったのかを、山田洋次は今問おうとしている。問題意識が一致している映画人と共に。　全力で今、世界中に問わんとしているように感じとる。　同感する。必見。

It shows how the imperialist government imprisoned those who opposed the aggressive military wars in Korea and China and Southeast Asia.Kabei shows these hardships while showing the love of a mother for her imprisoned husband and her loving young daughters.

Review: 今日、大勢の国民が反対する中にあって、安保法案の強行採決は戦前の様々な自由を束縛した治安維持法の成立と変わるところが無い。国民の主権を無視する政府のやりかたは戦前のそれと同じであり、国民の意思を無視する政府のやり方は民主主義の下での政府のやり方とは到底思えない。そういう暗い過去の時代を描いた本作品は反戦の作品であり、民主主義の謳歌を賛美する作品である。思想統制で自由な意見の発露が禁止された時代に本来の考えを述べた事で、投獄され、最後には死亡してしまう知識層が如何に多かった事か。それらは一様に赤と言われたが、赤でなくても当たり前の事を当たり前に話せなかった不自由な時代を二度と経験させてはならない。本作品を見る事で、日本国憲法の不戦の誓いを守っていかなければならないと改めて痛感した次第である。

Review: Yamada Yoji is one of my favorite film makers, he was assistant director on Ozu’s Tokyo Story and made most of the Tora-san films,—there were 48 of them, all basically the same story, and if he had not died he would have made more and the people of Japan would have welcomed them. He is also known for a sense of “social justice” and one criticism is that sometimes the message competes with the film experience, still his artistic ability to communicate basic human relations on film means they are all Good films and some are Great films. Yamada, like Ozu, was concerned with the effect of social changes on the family, and as the title suggests its about family experiences, it is a good film and like any artistic experience I think you will appreciate something about life from watching it.
