Title: Magnifique!
Review: J’ai lu le livre avant de voir le film, en laissant passer un petit délais. J’avais adoré le livre drôle émouvant touchant je n’ai pas été déçue par le film. A part un petit bémol sur la forme, qui est plus linéaire que le livre, les acteurs sont vraiment bien choisis, mention spéciale à François Damiens, à la fois drôle et émouvant et Audrey Tautou bien sur, dont les silences sont chargés d’émotion. Bien sur j’ai pleuré comme à la lecture du livre, d’autant plus que la musique d’Emilie Simon prend aux tripes. La réalisation et la lumière sont parfaites ce qui n’est pas toujours le cas des films français malheureusement. Ce film m’a fait penser un peu à Je vais bien ne t’en fais pas, de par ses émotions contrastées entre humour et emotion, sans être jamais sombre. Même mon mari qui n’est pas très film français et pas trop film ‘d’amour’ a bien aimé aussi , c’est dire 😉

Title: fidèle au livre
Review: Un film réussi ! J’ai été très touchée par le jeu des acteurs qui dégagent une sensibilité indispensable pour le rôle qui leur était attribué. Ayant lu le livre en premier, j’ai été heureuse de découvrir une bonne fidélité de l’histoire. C’est plutôt rare de ne pas être déçue par un film quand on a lu le livre en premier. Ce film nous fait passer par des sentiments différents du début à la fin donnant une richesse incroyable à un film pourtant très simple. on est d’abord attendri, puis soudainement triste ; on finit par remonter la pente en même temps que le personnage principal qui garde sur son visage une sensibilité très touchante tout le long du film. Sa rencontre avec un personnage hors du commun va changer sa vie pourtant vouée au deuil. à voir et à revoir !

Title: La délicatesse … d’un plat bien fade…
Review: Après « Amélie Poulain », « Amélie et les soldats », « Amélie et la mode »,voici « Amélie et l’amour »… Quand un réalisateur confond léger et inconsistant, délicat et mièvre, lyrique et sirupeux, cela donne un film sans relief et sans âme… Adapté d’un roman à succès (que des membres de mon entourage ont lu et apprécié), l’écrivain a tenté le défi de le transposer lui-même à l’écran. Visiblement, il y a loin de la page blanche à la pellicule! Absence de rythme, mise en scène sans relief, succession de clichés éculés contribuent à transformer ce film en gélatine insipide, en gélule soporifique… Et ce n’est pas le jeu monolithique et caricatural d’Amélie (pardon, Audrey!) Tautou qui relève la sauce! Quant à François Damien – attachant sans être transcendant – il parvient tant bien que mal à maintenir le navire – plutôt la chaloupe – à flot… L’unique étoile de mon commentaire lui revient, mais c’est hélas bien peu pour éviter le naufrage… Pour plus de finesse et de … délicatesse, lorgnez plutôt du côté des « Femmes du 6ème étage » ou de « Et si nous vivions tous ensemble? »

Review: De l’amour, du vrai, de la tendresse, une femme fragile, un homme nounours, loin des clichés de la séduction, qui ne demande qu’à aimer et être aimé, un film qui fera fondre les plus romantiques. Oui, il en reste.

Title: le dvd bien nommé
Review: film d’une extrême finesse qui laisse entrevoir la possibilité de relations pleines de respect : respect de soi même d’abord et respect du rythme de l’autre; ce n’est pas mièvre et pourtant c’est beau! Respect! et que soit redécouverte et mise à l’honneur LA délicatesse; un peu de finesse dans ce monde de brutes!

Review: This French delicacy proves you don’t need an enormous budget to craft a movie that is beautiful, clever and magical. I thoroughly enjoyed this from start to picture-perfect finish. While tragedy strikes early on, as the story develops you begin to feel that if you can live in the present (at least some of the time) and stay true to your ideals and your heart, life will continue to surprise and delight! Audrey Tautou once again shows she’s way more than just a pretty face – her emotions are raw and her persona relatable. I love that the film eschewed romcom conventions and celebrated the wisdom of appreciating goodness in others beyond a fancy façade. Francois Damiens is a revelation. Even when flying below the radar, his comical presence elevates every scene he’s in. As the shy Swedish dumpling, it’s impossible not to fall in love with him. In real life, seemingly opposite types attract now and again. Just as Markus could be spellbound by Nathalie, I found it as believable that she would be floored by his humility and humour and his overall dorky ways. If more people took their approach to relationships, it’d be a much happier world. I found the characterization of office life hilarious – and realistic in that workplace relations can be fraught with all kinds of drama and must be navigated delicately. The musical selections are the perfect accompaniment to this tale of rediscovering your joie de vivre after a great loss. So many subtly funny moments. Hooray for the underdogs. Hooray for storytelling that doesn’t overcompensate with commercial gimmicks. This is a one-of-a-kind film that re-affirms your appreciation for both the brevity of life and seizing the golden opportunities – no matter what anybody else thinks – while you can.

Review: Delicacy is a beautifully told love story, it is a film about loves – parents and grandparents, friends and colleagues, wives and widows.Audrey Tautou, Pio Marmai and François Damiens – the actors in the roles of the main love stories are superb, as are all of the supporting cast including Ariane Ascaride in the role of La mere de Nathalie. The film wouldn’t be what it is without the brilliant part that François Damiens plays and yet he doesn’t make an appearance for the first half-an-hour or so of the film.The story develops in a very realistic way and is all the better for it. The humour in the film is subtle gentle and realistic.The film is based on the best selling novel La Délicatesse by David Foenkinos and is directed by the author, so presumably this is the image the author wanted us to envisage from the written page.I would be hard pushed to find anything to fault about this film. The acting, the directing, the cinematography, the music – all work to make a really beautiful film.The extras on the DVD include Bloopers, Deleted Scenes and a Trailer.An album called Franky Knight by Emilie Simon, is the soundtrack to the film.Ariane Ascaride has a minor role as the mother of Audrey Tautou’s character, I watched her, in a leading role in the film A Common Thread [DVD]recently where she played the part of a woman who had lost her son in a motorbike accident, so it was interesting to see her in the role of a mother of a bereaved daughter, two very different films, but I would recommend them to anyone who appreciates Non-Hollywood films.

Review: I’ve just watched it, and first of all, I’m really impressed with Audrey Tatou’s acting skills. I’ve seen most of her films, and I think she’s very good, impressive and convincing. This is a romantic comedy but not a crazy kind with too many things happen in one go, but it has some very sensitive elements and emotions that she shows at some parts are very good – I’ve almost fallen in love with her! For example, in Beautiful Lies [DVD] (2010) although it was a pleasant and light film (I liked the atmosphere throughout though), I thought the role Tautou played was slightly too serious for no apparent reason for a romantic comedy, and for this reason it wasn’t easy to feel at ease in depth. However, to me ‘Delicacy’ is one of the best comedies Tautou has done since Amelie [DTS] [DVD]. There are more than a few scenes I had to go back, after watching it through once, and paused it to appreciate it more properly, for example when Tautou was crying quietly in the back of the car or in her living room, as she was so convincing, and this kind of acting will make good, professional actors from not-so-convincing pretty-faced ‘actors’ on TV. Tautou is obviously the former one, I was easily drawn into the plot. The way it ends is also very nice and artistic, and it is almost like a Japanese novel that completely leaves what happens next to the viewers’ imaginations. She was gazing at the camera for good ten seconds and was very cleaver, artistic and beautiful! Wow! The male actor who played Markus, the Swedish guy, was also very good, and I’d like to see more of him going forward.In addition to this, the photography was very impressive too, and colourist has done a great job too! Especially the scene Tautou was walking in the railway station next to the blue train was really beautiful as well as the scene she drives through the oilseed rape field was such a pleasant view too!Hope you like it too (and Merry Christmas)!

Review: This is another great effort by Cohen films to bring international cinema to this side of the pond. It is a light drama/romance/comedy that is entertaining and cute.The blu-ray delivers a remarkable image with a 1080p transfer encoded AVC. The soundtrack is DTS HD MA and very clear.Highly recommended as are most Cohen Films blu-ray releases!
