Title: Entre rêve et réalité
Review: Cette réalisation originale d’AGNES JAOUI , nous emmène un peu dans un autre monde, sur une autre planète.Si JEAN FERRAT avait écrit et chanté « Nul ne guérit de son enfance », pour un homme commemoi, d’un certain âge ou d’un âge certain , il n’est pas interdit de se remémorer de sa prime enfanceet des belles histoires que l’on nous faisait connaître le soir à la veillée.C’était l’époque où la télé n’existait pas , ou seule la radio n’était pas toujours présente dans tous les foyers . C’était il y a longtemps dans la campagne profonde où je suis né, et où j’ai vécu jusqu’à l’adolescence.Bref ! Que dire sur ce très bon film original où l’on alterne entre le rêve et la réalité , tout à fait digne du duo JAOUI BACRI ?Des histoires et des personnes de tous les jours, avec des situations rocambolesques et la brève apparition des différents contes qui nous ont fait rêver , comme le petit chaperon rouge, fait peur comme le grand méchant loup , ou qui nous ont émerveillé avec ces princesses dans des robes somptueuses.Il y a aussi le côté superstitieux . PIERRE ( JEAN-PIERRE BACRI ) à qui madame IRMA a préditla date de sa mort accidentelle prochaine , ce qui le rend, comme toujours , bourru et acariâtre.MARIANNE (AGNES JAOUI ),animatrice de théâtre dans une école primaire est traumatisée lorsqu’il s’agit de prendre le volant de sa voiture pour conduire, etc’est PIERRE ( moniteur d’auto école ) qui va lui redonner confiance en elle, en prenant beaucoup de risques.Il y a aussi le « grand amour » avec des jeunes couples , LAURA et SANDRO qui se rencontrent et s’unissent un certain temps, jusqu’à l’apparition de MAXIME, le beauténébreux.PIERRE qui est effondré par la prédiction qu’on lui a faite, et par la séparation d’avec sa femme s’aperçoit que cette prédiction est fausse.Alors, il se décide d’aller assister à une séance de théâtre donnée par MARIANNE pour les enfants.Il s’assied , à tout hasard près d’ ELEONORE ( VALERIE CROUZET ), avec qui spontanément et d’une manière durable, il aura une nouvelle union( comme dans un conte !!!…. )Ce bon film ,pour se plonger dans le réel et l’irréel est à voir afin de passer un bon moment de rêve et de détente

Review: Quelle daube. Un film français dans toute sa splendeur. Ça joue mal, ni drôle ni émouvant, l’histoire est inintéressante au possible, très mal rythmé, je n’ai pas réussi à finir.

Review: Laura is 24 and still waiting for her Prince Charming. Then she runs into Sandro at a party and its all love at first sight type thing. We also have the story of Sandro’s papa – Pierre played by Jean-Pierre Bacri who also wrote this. He seems to find it hard to express his feelings and is haunted by a foretelling of his death on the 14 march.Add to the mix some experimental music, a children’s play and driving lessons and you have enough happenings to make a very good story indeed. The thing is it just doesn’t work. The acting is all excellent; it is beautifully shot, well directed and professionally made. But and it is a really big but, it is not funny in the least. The romance is hardly in evidence and everyone seems to have emotional issues. The drama side of things is wafer thin too with so little actually happening that I wondered at one point was I watching the film as billed.It does try to be light hearted in places but that doesn’t always go well with the on screen `action’. I checked out other reviews for this and it is a mixed response. Some people clearly like the `subtle’ humour on show here but for me it just did not translate very well at all – if you are in doubt then probably best to go for the rental option

Review: I bought this DVD after originally seeing the film in a cinema in Poitiers where, in a moment of confidence, I thought that my French was good enough to watch a film without the need for sub-titles. This film seemed a good choice as I am usually a huge admirer of the films of Jean-Pierre Bacri and Agnes Jaoui however this was hard work as none of the principle characters seemed particularly engaging. I think I understood about 20% of the dialogue and therefore bought this DVD to see whether the addition of sub-titles would make me change my mind.In the past it is fair to say that Jaoui and Bacri have combined to produce some brilliant if gentle comedies. « The tastes of others » is , without doubt, an absolute masterpiece that manages to be profound and funny at the same time. A lot of the success is due to the ability of Bacri to portray slightly miserable characters fed up with the dross and stupidity that surrounds him and even when his characters are not too sympathetic, the humour is very well observed. In this instance, the script tries to be a bit too clever with Jaoui’s character being a school teacher directing a children’s play based on a fairy tale whilst the stories which reflect the other characters owe some element to Little Red Riding Hood, Prince Charming, etc. It is sophisticated yet the humour only seems to rise to the surface when Bacri and Jaoui’s characters have dialogue together. The young couple Sandro and Laura are pretty insufferable and when the slimy love rival Wolff materialises in the story, it is immediately apparent that he will be the villain of the piece. The story centres around Bacri being miserable whilst approaching the date of his pending death as forecast by a fortune telling. a marriage break up, the composition of a piece of contemporary classical music and the lives of the composer. performer and agent and a reluctant cast of children in a school play. There is plenty to get the teeth in to yet the only character I liked was Jaoui’s somewhat flaky libertine.I’ve now seen four films by Agnes Jaoui and, in this instance, the lack of genuinely assuming encounters or particularly sparkling dialogue make this a pale imitation if her finest work. Her previous film « Let’s talk about the rain » may have shared some of the complexity of this effort but at least it was funny. Maybe in having two younger principle characters caused the script to be somewhat out of touch with reality whereas the more realistic and finely judged observations about adult life have made Agnes Jaoui’s films a cross between Woody Allen and « Out-numbered. » This film was judge dull.
