Review: This is an intelligent, witty, funny film that has a serious point to make – that we have to become the change we seek. Collusion with bigotry means self-oppression and that robs us of our lives. Moreover, it denies in others the opportunity for change which seeing us as we really are brings. It is beautifully shot, beautifully acted and the burlesque never puts a foot wrong. A real gem. Watch it.

Review: Not sure what I expected but enjoyable in a quirky kind of way. High colour sets and costumes reflect the technicolor world and the over-the-top sterotypic cartoon-type characters parody the cliches of the time. The gay theme is very positive whilst contrasting with the closeted world of the time which the main character has to inhabit for a while. Some great one liners – especially from the agent and the butler. Don’t expect a serious film about a Rock Hudson type scenario. It’s all light hearted, jokey, camp and colourful.

Review: Got this with Girls Will Be Girls [DVD] and with a lot of the same cast, it’s great fun. The plot is less ‘hysterical’ [in all senses of the word] than Girls, but it’s still funny, and the characters are a bit more rounded out. There are some great one liners in this one. As a double bill it makes a great evening’s viewing with Girls Will Be Girls. Go on and treat yourself:)

Review: At first, the acting seems a bit « ham », but the film develops into a serious story about Mccarthyism & the problems of being a gay star in 1950s Hollywood. Sme brilliant one-liners.
