Title: FIGE JUSQU’AU DERNIER SOUFFLE
Review: Parfait et rapide comme d’habitude… Je ne suis pas prête de quitter Amazon. Film très touchant, très humain, excellemment interprêté par Mathieu Almaric, histoire poignante d’un être sensible et intelligent, emmuré vivant dans une carapace de silence et d’effroi et devant subir, sans pouvoir faire aucun geste car il est réduit à une tragique immobilité, les traitements des autres, agréables ou non…. A voir absolument.

Title: Très beau film
Review: Un très beau film qui traite d’une maladie peu connue : le locked in syndrome ou quand une personne est emprisonnée dans son propre corps alors que son cerveau fonctionne à plein régime. C’est l’enfer qu’à connu Jean Dominique durant quelques années suite à un AVC. Transféré en urgence à l’hôpital, il a pu, grâce à au personnel soignant, « narrer » son expérience et sa maladie. Le film n’est malheureusement pas à la hauteur du livre mais reste un bon complément grâce à l’excellente prestation des acteurs qui permettent d’approcher un tant soit peu ce type de pathologie. A voir, pour savoir et apprendre.

Review: Incoroyable d’abnégation et de courage. Bravo à Julian Schnabel pour la réalisation d’un film pas forcément facile et on ressent toute l’émotion qu’il à voulu faire passer. A voir absolument, ne serait-ce que pour l’émotion qui se dégage des personnes qui entourent Jean-Dominique.

Review: Not for moi: I understand that many movie buffs are deeply impressed by this film. While, I appreciate the immense struggle and courage evidenced by the stroke victim and the extraordinary dedication shown by his carers, I simply found it too heavy and deliberate in its ‘shock tactic’ manifestation of the physical impediments of the main character. Great acting:- true. Eliciting empathetic response from an audience:- no doubt. But overly drawn out. I preferred glimpses of the characters’ pre-stroke life. The healing process, if one can call it that, and the characters’ realization of what he had and was now gone forever, were poignant reminders of the past life he had lost and he would no longer have. This all certainly evoked empathy, but for me as the viewer, it wearied me and I have to admit that I did not complete my viewing of this movie. Therefore, while I appreciate the efforts of all concerned in the writing, directing and the making of this movie; it did not imbue me with a sense of “I simply have to watch it until the end.”watch and therefore my enjoyment level was

Review: This is a very emotional film about a man that experience a brain stem stroke and « locked-in » syndrome. I bought it because my husband faced the same scenario. Thankfully my husband has recovered and is getting some of his speech and movement back. The neurologists suggested I watch this movie to anticipate my husbands worst case scenario. I’m so thankful we are not experiencing the worst case!
