Title: Une bonne serie B ….
Review: L’univers de ce métrage est très réussi .Il est très riche visuellement et très fidèlement représentatifs des univers cyberpunks eurasiatiques et plus ou moins post-apocalyptiques , qu’évoquent certains romans de science-fictions , représentatifs de ce courant de la SF .Le scénario est bien ficelé et le jeu des acteurs est correct .Il y a une expressivité asiatique dans la prestation de certains comédiens .C’est un code et que l’on aurait tort de prendre pour de la naïveté .C’est une belle ballade vaguement cyberpunk , à la lisière du monde occidental et de l’asie ,qui se mélangent agréablement dans ce film aussi visuellement réussi que agréable à arpenter .Une bonne série B de SF pour les amateurs .PS : Le scénario n’invente pas la poudre mais il est agréablement imprévisible .

Title: Cela aurait pu etre mieux !
Review: Voilà un film que j’ai connu par hasard et qui ma séduit. Malheureusement, le scénario original capable de faire un excellent film a été tronqué. En effet la première partie de l’histoire (l’intro, en fait) aurait mériter de faire partie du film et non d’un simple flashback de 5 min. Bien que les acteurs soient irreprochables, on a du mal a imaginer la belle Bai Ling en tueur à gage (elle est trop gentille). Bref une histoire qui aurait pu faire grand bruit, mais qui manque de punch par trop de romantisme, une histoire tronqué et sans doute un manque de moyen. A découvrir quand même pour les amateurs du genre.

Review: La bande annonce semblait attirante. A mon sens, le film ne tient pas ses promesses. Jeu d’acteurs peu convaincant, scénario alambiqué et peu crédible, effets (très peu) spéciaux (ou à regarder au 15ème degré ?).Même la plastique de Bai Ling ne réussit pas à sauver le tout. Dommage …

Review: When watching this movie, there are some disturbing visual scenery, cyber-punk dystopia and vague story graphs between the beginning and the ending. The visuals are soggy, gritty and mentally odiferous. So… » K.L. do you know that you gave it 5 stars? » That is the enigma of this film. It is hauntingly atmospheric. Bai Ling’s performance shows such compassionate angst… such cold blooded indifference to being a semi sanctioned « hitman », (not to mention that odd but eerily attractive make-up) that it again, haunts me. I like the romance that develops in such a backward way…that is she is the « tough-guy » that eventually allows vulnerability to allow emotional attraction to give-in to suppressed passion. Some unexplained fate that happened to the parents of the heroin and her reckless younger brother is at once a bond and a point of contention but the two siblings obviously love each other, however not enough to overcome impulsiveness on her brother’s part and her emotional concern for him. (Spoiler?) Then we have this killer, whose only regret after a hit, is that she has to shower off the blood… who weeps with authentic despair over her brother’s habitual foolishness. In the end we look over a Blade Runner landscape (literally and figuratively) that calls us back to experience it again and some inexplicable time in the future, again. Now…all this verbal wandering on my part to this point… is admittedly psychobabble for « i don’t know why…but this flick keeps calling me back. »

Review: Fairly low budget but pretty good effects and atmosphere and ‘feel’ for all that. Actually one of the better cyberpunk films I have seen, yes the plot is a little silly here and there but its head and shoulders above most of them. Complaining and comparing it to Blade runner is like criticizing a sci-fi movie for having spaceships or robots or aliens (sheesh!). Cyberpunk is like goth style its black leather and shiny PVC and mesh and shiny black hair in bobs – run down places rain and a dark atmosphere are just part of the territory (as are airships carrying adverts).Bai Ling as Michelle is wonderful and sexy and really good at carrying off the cyberpunk babe thing, but most of the other actors are pretty good too. If you know a lot of cyberpunk Parry Shen as Jackie Michelle’s brother is the tragic doomed boy babe – another quintessential cyberpunk character. I liked it.BTW would have given it four stars but felt I needed to counteract some of the low scores from non-fans of the genre!

Review: A futuristic city with Blade Runner style mean streets, markets, corporate overlords, and weather. Bai Ling is the professional assassin trying to escape a life of poverty, with her brother the fool who tries to rip off a gang lord. They cross paths with Alec Newman’s scientist on the run, trying to protect his revolutionary genetic technology from corporate exploitation. Not very original, but I’ve seen much worse.
