Review: A good 40 min ALL REGION DVD that show animals travelling from Serengeti plains of East Africa to Maasai Mara in Kenya. Also included the life of the Maasai people, crocs in the Mara river waiting for the great migration, mass birth of the wildebeest and the Ngorongoro crater. The program is split into seven scene sections–MILLIONS OF DIVERSE CREATURES–THE FOOD CHAIN–THE GREAT MIGRATION–PREDATORS–THE RESIDENTS OF THE NORTH–GRASS FIRE –NGORONGORO CRATER. Some other animals that featured were zebra, cheetah, lions, giraffe, elephants, hippos, buffalos, hyenas, vultures, flamingos, storks, black rhino and baboons.

Review: Ich habe den Film damals schon im IMAX-Kino gesehen und auch auf DVD gekauft, aber ich muss sagen, in der Blu-ray Fassung ist er einsame Spitze.Die Qualität dieses Films ist wirklich atemberaubend, wie alle Szenen darin. Die Aufnahmen und die Liebe zum Detail kommen hier besonders gut zum Vorschein! Es zeigt den Lebensraum der Tierwelt aus der Serengeti wie sie heute noch ist und auch hoffentlich noch lange erhalten bleibt! Beeindruckende Bilder der freilebenden Tierwelt mit spektakulären Jagdszenen und Nahaufnahmen!Alles in Allem ein Film, den man gesehen haben muss, auch wenn die Gesamtlänge von gerade mal 40 Minuten fast schon zu kurz ist!–> Zur Produktbeschreibung hier auf amazon: Tiger kommen selbstverständlich nicht in dem Film vor!!!! Würde mich auch sehr wundern, da es diese Tiere in Afrika überhaupt nicht in freier Wildbahn gibt. 🙂

Review: How could you go wrong with James Earl Jones doing the narration? I have the standard version of this disc. It was one of the earliest to transfer to dvd. It came in a cd size case (eventually the size of the case was enlarged to prevent confusion with cds). Having both versions made it possible to do a comparison. What a difference the high definition (Blue Ray) version makes. It’s like night and day. The HD version is much sharper, clearer and colorful, just what you would expect from the new HD format. I wanted to toss the sd version in the trash but I’ll keep it to show folks the difference between HD and SD movies.The sd version had so much LFE (bass) that I had to turn the sub down quite a bit. In fact, it has too much LFE. The Blue Ray disc has a much appreciated toned down version. As far as the movie goes, it does an excellent job of showing the great migration of animals in Africa. I am a big fan of « nature documentaries. » and this is one of the best. It is not too long or too short but when I get into a good documentary such as this, I always wish it wouldn’t end.
