Title: L’une des meilleures comédies romantiques !

Title: La petite perle de 2009
Review: Il est parfois des films tellement pétris de qualités qu’on ne sait pas trop par où commencer… (500) jours ensemble fait à coup sûr partie de ceux-là. Hommage donc en vrac :- aux deux acteurs principaux : le prometteur Joseph Gordon-Levitt (3ème planète après le soleil, 10 bonnes raisons de te larguer…) est remarquable dans sa capacité à passer du rire aux larmes au gré de son histoire d’amour chaotique avec Summer, interprétée par Zooey Deschanel, qui nous gratifie une fois de plus d’une jolie performance dans la peau d’un personnage un peu décalé, et nous fait même profiter de son magnifique brin de voix.- à la réalisation : pour un coup d’essai, c’est un coup de maître ! Le premier long-métrage de Marc Webb est un petit bijou, avec sa photographie soignée (inspirée notamment, paraît-il, des spectaculaires yeux bleus de son actrice principale) et ses petits « trucs » de réalisation où l’on reconnaît la patte du réalisateur de clips musicaux qu’était jusque là Webb. Ceux qui connaissent les clips de « Bad Day » (Daniel Powter) ou « Goodnight, goodnight » (Maroon 5) ne seront, par exemple, pas tout à fait en terrain inconnu en regardant le film.- et justement, en parlant de musique, hommage encore plus particulier à la qualité de la bande originale, qui complète à merveille l’image et accompagne deux des plus belles scènes du film, sur les airs de « You make my dreams » (Hall & Oates) ou de « Hero » (Regina Spektor).Si le DVD est extrêmement pauvre en bonus à part quelques petites scènes coupées au montage, on ne s’en plaindra donc pas : voilà bien un film qui se suffit à lui-même.

Title: charmant.. à notre grande surprise!!!
Review: C’est une film charmant, qui m’a séduite presque malgré moi…ça doit être un film assez générationnel (on parle ici d’un couple urbain, trentenaire, dont la référence musicale commune est une chanson sublime des PIXIES!!!) dont l’originalité, à mon avis, réside dans le fait qu’il relate plutôt le point de vue du garçon… et ce, plutôt subtilement. C’est un vrai atout pour une comédie romantique, car les filles vont l’aimer précisément pour ça, alors que les gars vont peut-être se laisser entraîner, pour une fois que c’est leur regard qui est mis en avant.Le scénario utilise des aller-retours entre le retour et l’histoire passé, ces scènettes en désordre sont bien agencées et le film est donc très agréable à suivre.A noter une scène hilarante dans un magasin de meubles type Ikéa.Les 2 acteurs sont charmants, mais ça c’est la moindre de choses pour une comédie romantique. Petit plus pour le jeune homme, assez singulier dans le genre new-yorkais urbain, branché et sentimental juste comme il faut.C’est quand même du doux-amer : sucré mais réaliste quand même, sur ce moment de la vie où l’on sent que les choses vont tourner, sans que l’on soit vraiment sûr du sens qu’elles vont prendre.Voilà, un très agréable moment à passer, si vous avez envie de passer une douce soirée un peu sentimentale mais pas trop idiote quand même.

Review: Une comédie romantique pas nunuche pour une fois. L’histoire d’un jeune couple qui va durer 500 jours, racontée dans le désordre. Le point de vue est celui du jeune homme qui a une sensibilité plutôt féminine, alors que sa compagne a une sensibilité plutôt masculine et indépendante. Original, frais et léger malgré une réflexion sur la non-réciprocité des sentiments. On passe un agréable moment et la bande-son pop est pétillante !

Review: These days there is such a steady influx of cookie cutter rom-coms that after a while they all start to look, sound, and feel the same. Some are cutesy, some are full of teenage drama, some are about as convincing as watching the opening auditions of American Idol (entertaining in the fact that they’re so bad) but they’re full of fluff. And then there are those delicately crafted, smart, and charming films that you walk away from with a smile on your face, not an eye roll. For me, 500 Days of Summer is such a film.The story centers around Tom, a young man who’s waiting for the girl of his dreams, and Summer, the one who he believes to fit the role. They begin a doomed relationship since Summer has made her skepticism of love due to her parents divorce when she was a girl very clear. She’s just doing it for fun. I have seen this mindset among singles around me. Disillusionment with true love so they settle on just a feel-good romance or never open themselves to love at all. Does true love even really exist or is it fantasy? What does love even mean? This is the film’s main theme as both Tom and Summer try to come to an answer.Some have said it was too sad or depressing for a romance-comedy. And even the narrator says up front « This is not a love story ». There are scenes where Tom is trying to get over Summer but he’s just so depressed that it starts to take a toll on the viewer. But anyone who has gone through a breakup and felt the shadow that seems to follow you everywhere can empathize with Tom. It was inspiring to see how, while he was still hurting over her, this kind of wake up call was what he needed to get control of his life. And in the end, both of them are able to believe in love again. I won’t ruin it for you, but the last scene made me smile so it does end on a good note.Technically speaking, the film was surprisingly good. The acting was great, especially Summer, played by the cute and down-to-earth Zooey Deschanel. I thought her line delivery, her voice, her tinge of quirkiness was very endearing. Some might think her acting was shallow but it was a breath of fresh air to see an actress in a romance film who wasn’t tan, blonde, and constantly either out of breath, in tears, or strutting in high heels. The supporting actors are also full of personality. The lines are full of wit and humor that actually made me laugh, which is always good in a successful comedy. The soundtrack and songs featuring Regina Spektor, The Smiths, and some lower profile but talented artists was very affective with the scenes they were matched with. And it was a concise hour and a half which is always nice when you’re just in the mood for a quick feel-good movie. I’ve watched it probably half a dozen times and it doesn’t gets old. Really, a surprisingly good film that I think people on both sides of the spectrum can enjoy.

Review: When I first heard about 500 days of summer, I thought it would be your usual run of the mill love story like many other people thought. But what you get when you watch it is so much more than what it may seem. It is a love story as we know it but re-told in a very modern style. We start the story at the end of the relationship between Tom and Summer, Tom heartbroken and Summer wanting to be friends. The story then flicks to day (1) of their relationship and the story keeps flocking between the good times and the bad. With Tom wanting to be in a relationship with Summer, and Summer just wanting to e technically friends with benefits, conflicts begin to erupt. One scene in particular, shows the genius of the filmmaking and the initiative in giving the film a leg up over the other rom-coms: Tom and Summer spend their first night together and the next morning Tom is walking to work with a grin from ear to ear and music playing in twice background, he then starts to pick up the pace and a song and dance routine starts with passers by joining in the streets erupt in men and women dancing in step with Tom. Tom then arrives at work and the lift door shuts, the time then changes to after their relationship has fizzled out with Tom looking glum. This hole sequence as cheesy and corny as it sounds it is well executed and highly amusing. Another factor about the film, is that it shows the pain the man feels after a relationship has fallen apart, Tom is seen in a whole new light, only seein the bad things in life. It is a real honest and heart felt portrayal of the fallout from a relationship. Hand on heart; this is one of the finest films I have ever seen and can’t get any higher praise. I love it, my girlfriend loves it, there are laughs, tears and above all: it has the ability to make to feel for the lead character.

Review: Verliebt sein’was gibt es Schöneres? Nun ja, wenn nur die eine Hälfte eines Paares so empfindet und die andere Gefühle dieser Art partout nicht zulassen will, ist das schon mal nicht so schön. Aus dieser Grundkonstellation wurden schon Dramen gemacht’und Komödien. Die nahezu perfekte Symbiose aus diesen beiden unterschiedlichen Genres ist hier Regisseur Marc Webb mit seinem ersten abendfüllenden Spielfilm gelungen. Seine Drehbuchautoren Scott Neustadter und Michael H. Weber, die hier ebenfalls ihr Erstlingswerk abliefern, haben ihn mit einer luftig-leichten Story mit durchaus ernsten Anklängen ausgestattet, die über ihre Gesamtlänge von 95 Minuten überzeugt und den Zuschauer mit einem Lächeln aus dem Kino entlässt.Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, « Mysterious Skin », « The Lookout »), gelernter Architekt, der aber mittlerweile in einer Grußkarten-Firma arbeitet, hat sich in seine Kollegin Summer (Zooey Deschanel, « Per Anhalter durch die Galaxis », « The Happening ») verliebt. Summer lässt sich zwar auf Toms Werben ein, macht ihm aber von Anfang an klar, dass sie nicht an die Liebe glaubt und zurzeit keine feste Beziehung möchte. Genau 500 Tage währt die nun folgende Zeit von Toms Verliebtsein, seinen Enttäuschungen, Trennungsschmerz, Wiedersehensfreude und erneutem Abschied von Summer. Immer zur Stelle sind seine beiden besten Freunde McKenzie (Geoffrey Arend, « Killing Zelda Sparks ») und Paul (Matthew Gray Gubler, « How to be a Serial Killer ») sowie seine kleine Schwester Rachel (Chloe Moretz, « The Eye »), die mit mehr oder weniger hilfreichen Tipps versuchen, Tom durch die Irrungen und Wirrungen der Liebe hindurchzuhelfen.Marc Webb erzählt seine Geschichte nicht chronologisch und darin liegt ein Grund für ihre Dynamik. Durch das Einblenden des jeweiligen Tages, an dem die erzählten Geschehnisse stattfinden, erlebt man das Gefühlschaos, in dem Tom sich befindet, genauso turbulent mit wie unser Antiheld selbst. Momente des Glücks wechseln sich ab mit schmerzhaftem Liebeskummer, das ständige Auf und Ab in der vermeintlichen Beziehung von Tom und Summer hält den Zuschauer mühelos bei der Stange und lässt perfekte Identifikationsmöglichkeiten zu, die Toms Gefühle nachvollziehbar und real machen. Man teilt seine Glückseligkeit nach der ersten Nacht mit Summer, die sehr witzig in einer spontanen Tanzchoreographie auf LA’s Straßen dargestellt wird. Die eigenen Erinnerungen vermischen sich mit dem auf der Leinwand Gezeigten und man kommt nicht umhin zu lächeln, wenn man sieht, wie ausgelassen Tom seine Verliebtheit genießt. Deshalb leidet man auch ehrlich mit ihm, wenn er nach und nach realisiert, dass er bei Summer nicht die gleichen Gefühle erwecken kann, die er selbst für sie hat. Seine Arbeit leidet so sehr unter der Trennung, dass ihn sein Chef von der Glückwunsch- in die Beileidsabteilung versetzt, damit er « die Kraft seines Schmerzes in Trauerkarten-Texte kanalisieren kann ». Der Film ist so abwechslungsreich wie das Wetter im April, auf Regen folgt Sonne, es kann stürmisch werden, aber auch wieder frühlingswarm und « summer »lich. Nie gleitet die Geschichte in eine stereotype Liebeschnulze ab oder wird zum deprimierenden Drama. Webb gelingt es vortrefflich, auch in die ernsten Momente seines Films immer eine feine Prise Humor mit einfließen zu lassen und so absurd-witzige Situationen zu kreieren, dass er sein Publikum mit dieser zauberhaften kleinen Geschichte mitten ins Herz trifft.Hervorragend ausgearbeitete Charaktere, die von nicht minder perfekt ausgesuchten Darstellern verkörpert werden, runden den Film ab. Toms Freund McKenzie ist ein seltsamer, aber äußerst liebenswerter Wuschelkopf, dessen eigene Verwirrtheit sich mit der Sorge um seinen Freund abwechselt. Auch der etwas gefestigtere Paul stapft zielsicher in das ein oder andere verbale Fettnäpfchen, was ihn nur umso sympathischer macht. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, der eine fast unheimliche Ähnlichkeit mit Heath Ledger aufweist, beweist, dass er mit Ende 20 auf dem Weg ist, ein beachtenswerter Schauspieler zu werden, den man einfach mögen muss. Und obwohl Zooey Deschanel in der Rolle der Summer hier den undankbarsten Part abbekommen hat, weil sie unserem Hauptdarsteller nachweislich weh tut, überzeugt die Actrice als unkomplizierte Summer, die letztendlich auch nur Angst hat, verletzt zu werden. Den Vogel jedoch schießt die 12jährige Rachel ab, die als Toms Schwester so unglaublich altkluge, aber weise Sätze von sich gibt, dass man sie für ihre Pseudo-Adoleszenz einfach lieben muss. Die so offenkundige Diskrepanz zwischen ihrem Alter und den Dingen, die sie sagt, macht sie zu einem der lustigsten Parts des insgesamt großartig aufspielenden Ensembles. Eingebettet in einen wunderschönen Independent-Rock-Soundtrack wird « (500) Days of Summer » somit zu einem wundervoll-beschwingten Film mit passenden ernsten Untertönen, dessen positiver Grundaussage man sich einfach nicht entziehen kann: Es gibt wahre Liebe, man darf nur nicht aufhören, an sie zu glauben und sie zu suchen bzw. finden. »(500) Days of Summer » ist ein wundervoller kleiner Film, in dem sich die unterschiedlichen Versatzstücke und der Dreh, zwischen den 500 Tagen von Toms Gefühls-Odyssee hin- und herzuwechseln, zu einem romantischen, ehrlichen, witzigen und beschwingten Potpourri vereinen. Entstanden sind dadurch 95 Minuten, die man kaum besser verbringen kann. Ein Film für nahezu jede Altersgruppe, da jeder hier Erinnerungen wach werden lassen oder einen neugierigen Blick darauf werfen kann, welch mannigfaltige Gefühlswelten ein so simples Wort wie « Liebe » für einen bereithält. Ein rundum gelungener Film, den man keinesfalls verpassen sollte. Volle fünf von fünf Sommertagen, die lebensnah und authentisch Sonnenauf- und untergang reflektieren.
